Regardless of viewpoint, I believe that no housemate should be removed due to airing their opinion, no matter how controversial.

Kicking a housemate out because their view is un-PC just sweeps it under the rug, it also stops other housemates from challenging and potentially changing the opinion of the controversial housemate.
It should lead to a frank discussion of the subject where different sides are expressed and misconceptions quashed, the viewing public can gain insight into how different views have been cultivated and the societal implications of said views.

People in normal society hold differing opinions on every subject, why not show that and let it lead to a greater understanding of the issues that need addressing in today's world.

I am a firm believer in freedom of speech as long as it does not encourage others into acts that are damaging or hateful. At the end of the day a racist will be hated by the majority but we can only know who the racist is if they are allowed to express their view, otherwise we sit shoulder to shoulder unaware that we sit there with people we would rather not.

They could be discussing any topic (eg abortion) and have differing opinions that will cause the public to stop and think.

I don't know enough about the regulatory and legal environment for TV production.

What I do accept is that what I want as a viewer does not necessarily coincide with the preferences of other viewers or the realities of producing this kind of TV show. I don't want people kicked out for airing their dodgy views but I can understand why others have a different perspective. It may be that the producers don't want to kick people out for it but they have to please theirs masters at C5 or OFCOM.

Surely the whole point of BB is to see how HMs interact. If a HM says something another HM finds unacceptable then it is up to that HM to confront the issue and not to expect BB to act as judge and jury on the issue and speak for them.

However, if a HM becomes violent, aggressive, or scary to other HMs (all of which are against the rules as I understand it) they should be removed from the House. Bear should have gone days ago.

Yeah, but the point is that there was no discussion, no one challenging what he said. All we had was some agreeing with certain parts and the others staying silent. Too many people in the house either too scared of what the public will think if they voice their opinion or too stupid to have an opinion in the first place.

The producers can be blamed for that, they selected the cretinous cast.

Agreed, the housemates should address the issue themselves, like adults.

Agreed on the Bear front too, this also would help on the discussion front, no one wants to say anything when there is the threat of violence if the opinions differ.

Why the warning though?
Warning them that they are saying something that might offend?
All that would achieve would be for the housemate to be conscious of what they say from that point on, which would stifle discussion and not be a true depiction of that housemate.
Real people is what I want to see, not people censoring themselves for the cameras (or playing up to the cameras, for that matter).

Whatever Biggins has said I can't believe he would be that stupid especially knowing he regularly watches the programme and appears on BBBOTS.

But what is obvious is that BB is very choosy who they decide to boot out for certain behaviours, it beggars belief that Aubrey & Bear are still in there what is clear is that BB obviously didn't think their behaviour was that unacceptable simply because they want to hang on to them as long as possible.

The offense happens if they broadcast it, by doing so channel 5are as guilty as the person saying or doing whatever the producers decide has offended someone.

We don't need to be so protected, we need to learn to deal with hearing stuff we don't like or agree with, so long as what is said is not done to deliberately offend and encourage others to join in.

I am sure we have all seen Louis Theroux documentaries (etc) where he meets controversial figures with extreme views.
No one thinks Louis shares their views, the programme is aired and the viewing public get to cast their own judgement on the content they have seen.
It is your choice whether you take offence or not, if you are looking to be offended then you will be.

If he was still in the house then he would have the opportunity to explain his views and also to have his opinion changed by the other housemates (if they could string sentences together).

That's a good point. I love watching Louis' documentaries, even though often the subject matter can be controversial. It doesn't make me change my mind from being a peace loving person to a maniacal killer, which is what a lot of people seem to suggest happens.
