I am absolutely gob smacked and extremely peed off that KP new single has totally flopped in the UK charts. It's a brilliant uplifting song. The new charts are destroying the music industry and huge songs are suffering. Something needs to be done about it.

Katy Perry has done the same uplifting message in her previous songs only they were better. Plus it's only for NBC's Olympic coverage anyway, it isn't her lead single.

It is a good song much better than britneys anyway

Bit dramatic on the destroying the music industry, it doesn't need to chart for us all to continue enjoying it's not like if it doesn't chart it becomes unavailable for purchase and streaming

I'm fully aware that Rise isn't her lead single and won't make it on her new album but it's a very good single and deserves to do a lot better. I'm not a fan of these suprise singles to be honest.

I'm not a big fan of streaming being included in the charts, however they are now and just because songs you like don't shoot to number one in their first week doesn't mean it's destroying the industry. Streaming often means songs take a little while to build. Rise could end up doing well, it's very early in the campaign to know for sure.

We're currently going through the Spotify era of the charts so even the most established artists will struggle to get chart hits if they're not on Spotify, or appeal to the casual Spotify user.

Plus, Rise was an Apple Music exclusive so even though it's now on Spotify, it'll be treated like an anonymous single because they didn't get any exclusivity. It's sad, but that's how business works sadly.

No doubt had Rise been released on Spotify from the start, they would've have banners advertising the song and more users would've been seeing direct links to listen to the song.

Don't blame consumers!

They're only weapons of massive consumption.

It's not their fault, it's just the way they're programmed to function.

You cruel b***ards.

Little surprised at this. Her singles usually do well.

I'm looking forward to the new album.

It doesn't if you're Rihanna.

Her songs are dreadful ' play as loud as possible' saccharine that belong to the era where performing on stage was more important than singing. With actual talents like Sia, surely this lip synchers time is over.

The point is that not as many people are enjoying it or they would have downloaded it or be streaming it. All artists have their time. Their young fans grow up and change their musical tastes. It happens every year. Even to big stars.

I personally love the song and am quite shocked it's doing so poorly. I'm excited for Katy's next album.

I am always bemused by people who think they can speak for everyone.

Its a dull song to my taste. Very American. I don't think it has the mass appeal some of her other songs have.
