How easy is it to change from O2 pay monthly to pay as you go, and then to port to Tesco payg - if its cheaper per call?
My mum is on an ancient pay monthly contract with O2, and has been on the same plan since it was known as Cellnet UK and only uses the phone to make a few calls per month, with the phone being switched off when she doesn't want to make a call ( not very good when/if you are trying to call / get in touch - but thats a different subject)

Wouldn't you just go straight to tesco rather than o2 payg as a middle man ?

Ring up O2 ask for your Pac code=Port authority code...then ring Tesco Pay&g and give code number will transfer to them Job done.
As said by gillyallan no need to go to O2 Pay&g just go straight to Tesco cheaper call then O2.

Porting your O2 sim mobile number to Tesco mobile means you will no longer be able to take advantage of any offers on the O2 Priority app with that number.

Just get a free O2 sim card, activate priority and bin it.

Ask Tesco to move her to their lite tariff or consider Talkmobile (10p per call, 4p per text) which uses Vodafone instead.

It is generally difficult to port between contract and PAYG on the same operator. It should be straightforward for you to port from O2 to Tesco.

Make sure that the phone is used at least every 6 months as PAYG accounts may be disconnected because of inactivity.
