Just like when Ricky Gervais turned up halfway through, one show, and disappeared 15 mins before the end to promote his crappy and offensive film.

Gary Barlow also dominated the show he was on, although more at the direction of Tim and Simon bringing him into everything including the photo bit. When this happens with guests, I bet the others sit there and wonder why they bothered.

Ah, it might be worth watching outside of that, then, esp. since I've had the misfortune to see him on the last 30 mins.
i have just realised i was watching on plus 1 , so he might have been on longer than i thought

Gervais' last appearance was pretty funny and he did the whole thing from start to finish IIRC.
Last time he was on was to promote the David Brent film. He joined them from the 10.55 group section just before the guest chef, and was announced as having left to do some press stuff, during the dessert bit.

He came on in the last 45 minutes or so as a special guest , i don't think he was originally a named guest
He was definitely on my EPG as I don't normally watch this show. Well only if someone I like is on there.

I will have to watch on catch up

Just watching New Year Brunch. With subtitles onscreen as they speak, and judging by how the show two weeks ago looked from the outside like they started about 7.30am, and with this one looking like late afternoon, they've clearly been shot on the same day.

Lovejoy ended the year with a very typical show of his cretinosity:

- thanking the band for "making a noise"

- not listening to Kara Tointon to such an extent that she had been speaking about her diving experience for five minutes until he realized she was talking about a totally different form of diving. To realise you got it wrong is one thing, but to then ask your questions anyway took him to new depths of imbecility.

- his dopey vacuous face as he 'signed off' at the end honestly made you worried that he has to exist in the world without 24 hour personal assistance.

I thoroughly enjoyed the piece on healthy food gimmicks for this year being ripped apart by Dr Xand.

I imagine that would have been a completely different piece if he had not been there with ridiculous claims being made for charcoal, birch water and bug pasta.

Hilarious. The food woman just gave up. Towards the end, when Timmy asked what were the health benefits of one item she just shrugged and nodded towards Dr Xand who gave a blunt 'none'.

Oh and lovejoy wants to host a game show. Mr Personality himself. Good luck with that.

Also some classic Lovejoy questions about boardgames " what sort of games are called boardgames " the lady answered with " games that are played on a board " Oh, sez lovejoy so chess is a board game ? the king of boardgames perhaps ? " " you may very well think that ... "
