I know I am being very thick here but what is the difference between the Red Carpet Event and the Launch Show?

When you see the show edited together on Saturday, nothing.

The fakey red carpet thing with flashbulbs, journos and a biddable crowd are there to generate noise and a bit of excitement for the edit. It's probably just logistically easier to do it on a different night from the launch show propper.

I always like the dancey thing that starts in the street and the pros run through into the studio and carrying on dancing. A day later

That's what I've gathered too and that the pros already completed some filming at the end of last week.

For filming purposes:

Red Carpet Event: the "outside broadcast" bit
Launch Show: the "studio" bit

For viewing purposes:

As fridgesoup said, Red Carpet Event+Launch Show is the entire thing you'll be watching on Saturday night.

All a big change from the days when the celeb was filmed sitting in a room in casual gear and their pro walked in to introduce themselves and shake hands

Or turn up at this house. I can still remember Karen Hardy ringing Gary Rhodes doorbell little knowing what awaited her ...

I love that Tess and Claud share a room and sleep in bunkbeds and all the pros live in the same street

Gee wept. Those were the days! The celebs face at the bemusement of not recognising who their pro was!

Don't know, but you are most likely to find that information on one of the threads about the Launch show.
