It doesn't mean you a have beak literally, it's not about nose size etc, it means you are nosey. It isn't an offensive comment, or I have never believed it to be. Was used quite commonly where I grew up in London.
Yes, I was raised in London & have heard and used it myself. Also "keep your snout out". It is not a comment on the size on the person's nose, just that they are being nosey and/or interfering in things that have nothing to do with them. |

it just so happened siara took it the wrong way
![]() ![]() I don't think Saira's the worst housemate in there, for example I actually dislike Heavy D more than her, he's awful and annoying, but Saira must be a pain in the backside to live in that house with. |

He was just using a common expression that means somebody is a nosey so and so. But as usual the Guru of the house takes it as a personal insult and gets precious about it

He added something along the lines of "you do have quite a hooter" that no one seems to have mentioned

It was clearly a common expression of which Saira was not familiar. It could also be that she is sensitive for some reason about her nose (it looks like a perfectly normal nose to me).
It is surprising when people in the media haven't come across familiar turns of speech. Someone was being interviewed on Radio 4 a couple of weeks ago about Pokemon Go and used the expression "nine day wonder". The interviewer (think it was Louise Minchin) pounced on it & said "that is a very specific amount of time". & the chap had to explain that it was just an expression for a short lived phenomenon. |

I use that word often to people. People in the North DO use that word often so she must be offended by A LOT of people being from the North!!

Saira understood perfectly well that Heavy meant she was an interfering busybody.
To avoid having to address that issue yet again, she deliberately zoned in on the word beak so she could make out that HD had insulted her physical appearance and play the victim |

That being said, "I don't have a beak" was a funny line. |

Yes I was wondering why it hadn't been brought up yet. Whilst I think his main point was that Saira was interfering, the "hooter" comment could imply a dig on her appearance.
That being said, "I don't have a beak" was a funny line. |

It's funny that she took it literally.
