Yet again BB has made an announcement, and tried to withhold info, which has led to all sorts of speculation. It is only right and proper that BB makes full disclosure, so that the HM involved doesn't suffer from the false speculation that otherwise ensues,”

Agreed. They need to release the video if they're going to release statements like that.

Biggins gave an interview about it (the shower remark) to The Sun. Rylan made reference that interview on This Morning & I got the impression that The Sun interview wasn't "sanctioned" by BB. I don't know if the HMs have a clause in their contract which states that C5 has eclusive rights, or at list first dibs on HM interviews about their time in the house. It is possible, but maybe if they have pulled Biggins' appearance was fee, he may use that as evidence that any such contract is nul and void.

I agree with nomad and Drew,. I think it was the 'transcript' that messed things up. I'm sure BB thought they'd got it under control but the fake or otherwise transcript buggered that up. They need to show what was said because at the moment it's Chinese whispers and even though those in the know are saying it's a fake, people are still referring to it because they have nothing else to go on and that's snowballing it all.

If there is a behaviour clause regarding the fee, then the rest of the contract is still valid.

There are comments in this thread that amaze me.
I was ready to hate Biggins when I heard about the concentration camp joke, or whatever it was supposed to be. I never liked him , either as an actor or a talk show guest. Never bought into his Mr Lovely persona. Get him off my screen, I could strangle him for that laugh alone.

I was so upset when the "joke" thing broke. I was angry and mortified that he (or any entertainer) could say such a thing.

Nevertheless there were plenty of FMs here who tried to laugh it all off with "oh, he's a bit of a prankster" "It's just banter", and that made my blood boil.

Here's the thing. For whatever reason Biggins visits Auschwitz, whether it his PR people trying to save his reputation, or his own choosing, I think it's a bloody good thing.

People who are saying Biggins would be joking and laughing at the gas chambers and all the other horrors must believe he is entirely morally bankrupt, heartless and a monster. I don't think he's any of those things. Just because I don't like him doesn't make him a Nazi.

Going to Auschwitz could teach him something. Apart from anything else, homosexuals were murdered in those camps. They had to wear a pink triangle, and were considered non people just as much as Jews, Gypsies and all the others Hitler wanted to obliterate from the face of the earth.
If Biggins was an entertainer in Europe during that era, he would have gone up as smoke through those chimneys too. Along with bisexuals. I don't think that would bring him any joy either.

So, do the people making jokes about Biggins treating this trip as some kind of jolly jaunt where he can stand and chortle at the death of millions really believe he's that much of a soulless devil? I don't, and I'm not a fan of his.

I hope it's a sobering experience that teaches him something about how some things don't make for funny jokes. I think his views on bisexuals are ignorant and he'd do well to think before he spouts off, but this thread is very depressing.

But the "I'm looking forward to it" comment was crass and not thought about before it was said. Especially at the moment, surely he should know to think very carefully for speaking publically about anything to do with his current situation. It's isn't as though he isn't media savvy (or at least he should be).

I agree, that was very badly worded. Like I said, he should engage his brain before he opens his mouth.

ETA-- add me to the list who of people who wants to read the transcript of what Biggins actually said that got him removed. Plenty out there still think the Secret Squirrel transcript is genuine, and the only way to stop all the conspiracy theories and speculation is to give viewers the facts. Not doing so is frustrating for everyone involved, we want to know the truth. Why won't they just release it? It looks like what Biggins DID say was so bad, so heinous it would kill his career. The situation as it is now isn't helping anybody including Biggins (unless the SS transcript IS genuine. That would kill his career.)

Whatever we get told, or not get told, Biggins' career is pretty dead in the water now, hard to imagine him coming back from this. There are always repercussions to our actions and certain things that get said or done that cannot be forgotten, ask John Lesley and Michael Barrymore.

^ I doubt anyone thinks he's a heartless monster. What you're reading here is just people quite rightly eye-rolling sarcastically at his mortifyingly obvious and utterly shameless attempt at damage control. If he's prepared to use Auschwitz to get himself back in people's good books, then he deserves all the sarcastic contempt directed at him.

Yes, it could teach him something but he has zero excuse for not already knowing all of the above.

Can you point out any replys from 1-10 that you deem are more offensive than the comment Biggins made to Katie please, I am interested.

Etty, we are just using exaggeration to ridicule him, I don't think anyone believes he will go in to the camps and burst out laughing in his normal jovial luvvie manner

then again?

I would, except I don't know what he said. Kind of hard to rate things when you don't have a source.
I wasn't trying to attack anybody here, I was just kinda astonished that the people who were taking the Squirrel transcript as gospel and still defended Biggins with the banter bullshit, now seem to have done done a 180.
I am no cheerleader for Biggins. I guess the idea of anyone having a good laugh at Auschwitz was so grotesque and upsetting I just reacted, perhaps inappropriately.

Yes, but there has to be some perspective. This is outrage without a logical single target, so where do you suppose some people's minds go when this "what about the non-Jews" complaint is aired? That's right. To the Jews. As if there has been some plot to take attention off the other deaths. That's how people's minds work unfortunately.

Note that in what's typical of most Holocaust memorials, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in its literature and website mission statement very clearly defines that the term "Holocaust" is specifically about the 6 million Jewish deaths, but in the very next paragraph mentions in detail all of the other people who were targeted. If other similar museums or memorials do otherwise I'd be very surprised. The other deaths are always mentioned in any I've seen.

So the fault lies with people for not retaining the information. It is not exactly hidden or denied. People are lazy, so they retain the main fact (the 6 million) and tend to generalise or forget the rest.

I know it's the sun, but Biggins gives an exclusive interview regarding what was said.

Honestly, all the mockery you read was directed entirely at the opportunistic and deeply cynical Biggins. If anything, it was savagely OTT purely because he was using Auschwitz for his own personal gain.

I think that would be a good idea. I doubt he'll admit that he shouldn't have made the offensive remark about bisexuals, so at least if he does this he might realise just how offensive his joke would have been in front of Katie.

And when was that policy formed? Not in 1939, 1940, or 1941. As I've said the problem was they were kept alive in camps and therefore taking up resources. The difference with the Slavs was the it fully announced intention to kill most of them off.
