It's sold over 5 million and everyone seems to own it. I know some families have 2 or 3 copies, for house, car etc. Just never stops selling does it? Was back in the album Top 20 this last week. Mind you, saw it at just £3 in a supermarket yesterday. I remember buying it the day it was released in September 1992, the old black cover.

I cannot think of anything worse than owning anything by ABBA.

So your answer is NO! Are there any Abba songs that you like a little bit?

Not one...all awful....though haven't listened to them all and really don't wish too, the ones that get played on the radio are quite enough.

Fernando is my favourite Abba song. Many of them are over-played.

The only one I feel any affection for is Dancing Queen, but that's only because it was featured in the Rik Mayall / Helena Bonham-Carter film of the same name.

I'm with you. Can't beat abba and don't understand why there is such rose tinted nostalgia for them.
They were popular in their day but always considered cheesy. Not sure when they became considered cool to like

I much preferred their later stuff. Lay all your love is my favourite of theirs (1981).

I think it only happened when kitsch suddenly became trendy. I don't think many people actually took them seriously, it's just that they were a bit better than Brotherhood of Man and Bucks Fizz.

I have it and I have More Gold as well. In fact in my house there's two copies - one on cassette and one on CD I don't know anyone who doesn't have it but then I never asked.

The Day Before You Came is bleak perfection though.

Couldn't have put it better myself-their best song imo.

I don't own it, simply because I already have all of Abba's studio albums on CD (as well as on vinyl) so I don't need it. A great many of my fave Abba songs aren't their singles but album tracks. I've always loved Abba. Well, since they won Eurovision, anyway. I still remember watching them on Eurovision with my parents and loving them and wishing they'd win. I wasn't that keen on the British entry that year, I remember and loved Abba's song so much. I was so happy when they won. For every birthday and/or Christmas throughout the 70's I pleaded with my parents for the latest Abba album, lol. Waterloo is actually one of my least favourite songs of theirs these days. It's catchy, sure, but corny and nowhere near their best work. Pretty much everything they released after that was ten times better but I guess it was suitable for Eurovision at the time. Abba's later work, in the late 70's/early 80's, is fantastic and timeless, imo. Especially their 1977 The Album and 1981's The Visitors. I think Benny and Bjorn's songwriting skills are underestimated/underappreciated by a lot of people. They think of Dancing Queen and Waterloo and think that's all there was to Abba but their music is intricate and pretty complex a lot of the time. Wonderfully crafted pop songs. Try writing something as brilliant as The Name Of The Game, which has so many parts to it and tough to sing. They wrote so many timeless classics and Agnetha and Frida have beautiful voices. I can never tire of Abba.
