21 years and the secret Mitchell time bomb has finally exploded

Is this the longest kept secret in soap history?

I'm thrilled they're exploring this

Explodes like a wet fart in a spacesuit. Sorry, being churlish but I think it's such a lame way of doing it.

This should have been done on Peggy's death scenes. It should have been announced then she drops dead in shock.

Pauline is dead. Arthur is dead. Peggy is dead. Grant hasn't been a regular for 17 years. Michelle hasn't been a regular for 21 years. Aside from the fact the impact is going to be minimal to most characters and indeed viewers, Michelle would NEVER have revealed the truth to Peggy having kept the secret for so long.

This storyline is only being done as DTC's finale to satisfy his ego, so he can say he was the man to resolve it. For that reason, it's a dreadful decision.

Then Pauline's ghost pushes Pat out of the way, whacks Peg in the face with a frying pan and drags her to hell? That would be amazing.

I'm really not seeing what the big deal is. Especially when Michelle as a character has been away so long [and won't be coming back for any of this].

It's a literal 'And...?' plot at this point that will change nothing.

Sums it up beautifully.

Mark Jr has an uncle in the square, he should have been at Martins wedding and stuck around, saying he wanted to find out who his father was.

Michelle writing to Peggy was just absurd.

How would you have done it

This far down the road there are only a few ways to bring it out?

People have harped on and on and on about them revisiting this secret and now they have you're all
Moaning

This. Michelle would never had have written to Peggy like that. If DTC had to have had this secret reveled, Mark Jr should have turned up after finding out and the secret come out that way.

And? Nothing wrong with a good moan,

I'm not going to refrain from having an opinion, I love EE but I'm not blinkered to see that it had its faults.

He's old enough to want to know who his father is and I could buy Michelle telling him. But I'm at a loss as to why she felt the urge to write to Peggy about it.

I agree, that would have been a much better way of writing it, not this silly way that DTC has written it, or discussed it with writers to write themselves.

Also, I agree with Yoshi Fan that DTC has done some stupid things his way in this programme to satisfy his goddamn ego. Another poster not long ago, said something like this on DS Soap forums before, and I thought, hear, hear, as I am now.

It's like they tried to come up with the most needlessly complex way to reveal it, thinking they were being 'clever'. This is typical of Lamb/DTC - dragging up secrets from the past and giving them an unsatisfactory conclusion. Also, Michelle bloody hated Peggy and would never have written to her to reveal her secret.

It certainly isn't an explosion. 95% of the viewing public's reaction was... "Who?"

Dot revealing it in her tea leaves or Cilla Black coming back from the dead to reunite them on Surprise Surprise would have been more realistic than Michelle writing to bloody Peggy!

However way they would of done it, would never of been good enough, without Michelle its just a hollow sub plot, should of just left it alone.

DTC can't leave anything alone. Kat and Zoe; Den and Sharon; now this.

Ben - Gay, won't father a boy since he only "tested" himself and created Lexie
Louise/Courtney/Any Mitchell Female - Are women, don't pass on the name

Unfortunately true, he just taken existing storylines and messed with them, not much originality really when you think about it.
