How is this possible? What I mean is how are we able to buy these codes for cheaper than the standard one month Now tv pass? I have seen Bulk passes in PC World and Argos. For instance three months entertainment for £15 and two months movies for £15. Obviously perfectly legitimate. Knowing how greedy Sky are it makes me wonder why they do not restrict now tv passes to only buying them from the website at the full price. Could you imagine if you could get a normal sky subscription from PC world for £15 instead of £22.50? I am cancelling Sky to use Now tv. Obviously it works out much cheaper. Just hope this continues. Trouble is the more people do this isn't it likely that Now tv will start putting up prices and not allow cheap codes anymore? |

I've wondered about the passes you see on Ebay etc, why would you sell them. I can only assume they've bought the box but don't need the passes etc.

Just spotted in my local Tesco Extra the 2016 Model Discontinued at the price of £39.99.
Argos and Asda also sell for the same price. Something tells me this new box is not a great seller?? |

To me the biggest issue is the remote. I've got gen 1/2 and a smart box and it's fine in the first two but to scroll down to say sky news is a nightmare on the smart box.

I nipped into my local Argos on my way home and picked up one of the Freeview compatible boxes with a 5 month entertainment pass for £39:99.
I've got to say I really like it, but I may be a special case. I'm used to using Freeview via HD Homerun from within Kodi and the Now TV interface isn't dissimilar from that. I decided to try this box out just to get it up and running attached to the crappy communal aerial I have in the living room (the reason I use HD Homerun is because far more expensive PC equipment and my TV work terribly with this aerial so I had to network the Freeview signal throughout my home from the one room I could get a decent signal with an indoor aerial) and I have to say this box has a very good tuner, it picks up and works perfectly with many more channels than I've ever been able to pick up via the communal aerial before. I can see why people wouldn't like the interface or the lack of recording abilities but as I said initially I may be a special case, I honestly can't remember the last time I recorded a TV program, the interface isn't the best but its probably quicker to get to the channel I want than on my VM Tivo box and the few apps on there are amongst the best examples of those services on any box. I wish we could get to the stage where we had one box to run every service but I fear that day is a long way off but unlike most I find the new smart box quite a good device, the 50 Hz output makes a great difference and it does what its designed to do (play and stream media content) very well despite the not so good interface. Oh and I'd probably nip back to Argos tomorrow for one of the old boxes with the 5 month entertainment pass for £19:99 but I now have 10 months of the entertainment channels paid for and I have my doubts whether the voucher in that offer would still be valid next June. |

And when you say "one box to run every service" do you mean just the online catch-up and on demand services? Because there are a few boxes that do. |

AFAIK there is no expiry date on the vouchers.
I wasn't exactly amazed that it was sold out in all the stores around me and placed an order for delivery expecting to pay the delivery charge and wait a few days. But it even has free next day delivery A years worth of the good Sky channels for £39.98! Who cares about recording and it being streaming only when you consider you get all the channels plus box sets for less than 2 months subscription to the SD satellite service. |

The new Now Box will work just fine if you have the correct settings and the TV is adjusted and as by the sound of it you have. ![]() Please note if you have a current Entertainment Pass running and add the New box five month voucher (this will be fine). If you are buying the second small black box. Note as long as you are adding the voucher from it within 365 days you will be fine. |

I have the new smart box and am really pleased with it. I am cancelling Sky and am looking to use this for Sky channels in its place. The main difference with this box is you can pause the 11 live Sky channels. I think the PQ is really good as well. Paid full price last month but have four month cinema pass. And as I mentioned in an earlier post I bought a one month entertainment pass for £2.49 on E bay!

I suppose the new smart box is a cheap way of getting HD channels onto a TV that do not have a HD Tuner. But from what I have heard it is not the most user friendly thing to use for Freeview channels.
I have the old white box and the newer black box, and they both works well, the black box is more responsive than the older white box. I got a an 3 month entertainment pass from Argos as it was cheaper than buying it monthly, but for some reason it vanished off my account, I sent an email to Now Tv and while I had no proof that I put it on, they did add another 3 months to my account and a couple of weeks after that vanished. so I give up now and just pay monthly. i did have a look at the bundle, broadband and now TV, but while i would save a whole £1 a month in the first 12 months, I would be paying £10 a month extra more than i am paying now and then there is the £50 connection fee. I know they give you the the smart box, but I am not sure if I really want the smart box, the box i have now is small and hides away nicely apart from the sensor poking out. Also i am getting rid of my Tv licence again, so I do not need a freeview box. |

The other trick for getting cheap NowTV passes, without having to buy new boxes or vouchers, is when you come to cancel your pass and they give you the leaving questionnaire (usually only 2-3 questions) tell them you're leaving due to not being able to afford it right now.
Every time I've selected that option (and I've tried 1-2 of the others in the past) I've then been offered cut price deals. Latest was 4 months movies for £3.99 a month, which is comparable to some of the cheapest deals on eBay for voucher only. |

I don't understand this. How does anyone at Sky/NowTV know when it's been 365 days since a customer purchased a box from a store? Let alone which vouchers are tied to which box barcodes?

To be sure that the pass will be valid by the time you want to use it. I suggest using online chat HELP and they will be able to give you a date when the pass is valid until.

It's ridiculous that I can buy a box with a 6 month entertainment pass cheaper than I can buy just the pass.
I don't need any more boxes (nor does anyone I know) but would like to purchase the pass at the lowest possible legitimate price without contributing to landfill! |
