Does anyone else feel cheated, again?

CBB launch night is always exciting and promises so much.
There were some big and interesting names going in, and not for the first time.
But like all CBBs of late, I don't get to see anything of the people I like.

For example I was excited to see James Whale going in, as I used to listen to him late night on the radio years ago. He's very intelligent and can be fascinating at times (when he's not trying to be controversial). But I've hardly seen him in the highlights, and the only time you DO see him is if it's during an argument.
Samantha Fox is another one I was interested to see, as she an interesting character. But she's also hardly been in the highlights.
Katie I was also quite interested to see more of, as I think there's much more to her than meets the eye.

But yet again I feel like some interesting characters have been dangled in front of us on launch night, but then they seem to disappear.

You only ever get to see an Essex, a Geordie or a loose woman. Why is that?
There are so many more interesting people in there, and I want to hear what THEY have to say.
It feels like a golden opportunity is always being missed, in favour or showing 20 year olds snogging. Who wants to see that? We get it, they snog, why is it being shown every night??

When something challenging and potentially fascinating happens (eg Biggins comments) they kick him out the house. But why? This is yet another golden opportunity missed.
Gather the housemates, tell them what Biggins said and let them all have a debate about it. This would be fascinating and would actually show us who these people really are. WE may learn a thing or two in the process too. Then let the housemates decide if Biggins should be removed.
I HATE the fact that anyone saying something controversial/racist/sexist gets kicked out the house, as I would much rather see that person being educated by the rest of the house, and maybe changing their views as a result.

But no, let's watch Bear put coffee, orange juice and cornflakes in a big bowl, with a pineapple on top. Oh lucky us, lucky lucky us.

So basically I feel totally cheated again, by being promised these interesting characters and then never seeing them (unless they have a bit part in an Essex, Geordie, Loose women storyline).

Sorry for the long rant.

I'm with you on Whale before he went in, but he has turned out to be something of a self-regarding pillock.

But so is Bear, we get him all the time though.

Watching Sam Fox talking to Saira on the LF it's as if she's scared to offer any opinion on anything, she's too camera aware. James sits in the corner, Ricky is deadly dull and Katie is just waiting to collect her pay cheque.

Names mean nothing, only Saira, Heavy D, Bear's gang and the Americans have earned their money.

I wonder if the fact that Bear and Marnie are Viacom employees has anything to do with their prevalence in the highlights shows. There's a real nasty/tacky undercurrent that the shows that made them "famous" are known for, which they are now replicating in CBB.

Agree!

Katie is just waiting for the next chance to cry (Amy Winehouse, burst balloon,....)

I used to listen to James Whale when he did a late night rock show on a north east radio station, Metro Radio.

I agree with your point about them concentrating on a core of lame and superficial characters, there's a few people in their who's personality I wouldn't mind them exploring. Let face it, with the live feed killed, we are only gonna get the characters that they want shoved down our throat.

I agree with you absolutely OP.

I think there ARE other interesting characters in there, but people keep going on about how dull they are - how would you know? Unless they are reacting to something Bear or Heavy does, we don't get to see them. There are hours in a day when they are interacting, I'd love to see some of it.

I thoroughly enjoyed that live feed a few days ago of them sitting around the dinner table chatting and having a drink. I like seeing conversation, hearing what they have to say. Ricky and James seem to have a friendship - I'd like to see it, not just on live feed. Sam and Saira too.

I seriously doubt Frankie's sat in the corner doing nothing, he's a lively person, has charisma, likes a laugh - I can't imagine he's just lying on the bed all day doing nothing. Show him BB!

There are friendships blossoming all around that house, but - unless it involves Marnie, Heavy, Bear or Lewis - we aren't being shown any of it.

ETA: Example off the top of my head - Saira said Sam was her best friend in the house - when did this happen?

I said the other night that I thought BB had missed a trick. They seem to love courtroom tasks and trials about what's said on the outside or tasks with bits of what other housemates have said, why not have a pro and con debate about points that came up so far this series and make them discuss them; some of them seem so reluctant to challenge anybody on anything at all.

It seems that unless you're doing sexual stuff or being aggressive, you're boring... Frankie's barely been shown, but he's really funny.

Some great ideas there OP - why oh why aren't you on the production team?

I agree with what you said about Biggins especially. What he said was absolute cobblers and in the worst possible taste, but was it really worse than having someone gob in your sarnie? Or Bear's meltdown/tantrum?

They don't even seem clear themselves what constitutes ejection worthy behaviour.

Couldn't have put it better . Very disappointed in Sam and James . People talking about playing a game . Sad to say these two are playing the biggest game in there i.e sit on the fence, do not get involved and you'll escape being nominated and survive for a long time .

I'm no fan of Saira but she was a great HM . Not a bore like James, Sam, Katie, .

Katie, Ricky, James, Sam, and to some extent Aubrey have absolutely no chance of doing well in this series. Even when Biggins was in he was mostly invisible.
BB has just decided to edit people out of the show in favour of rewarding housemates who have a showmance going on.
The screen time some are getting in this series is criminal.

Expecting the "big" names to be the "big" characters is too simplistic. This is a reality TV show so it's really no surprise that the reality TV housemates, including all the Americans, are better at it.

I think the main objection to these reality types is that they're invariably effing horrible specimens.

The irony of that being, that what they're better at, is knowing how to act up to get more camera time, which is about as far from reality as you can get.

To be fair, a lot of them are more boring and/or thick rather than horrible. The current bunch along with Gemma Collins and Kirk I'd count as the horrible bunch, but there have been plenty that are just there and are for the most part inoffensive; Sam, Ollie, Amy, Scotty etc. have been tolerable.

I'm not watching but this is a really good idea but unfortunately, the producers won't change anything unless the ratings drop significantly.
