Lady Colin has her say on Biggins removal.
http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/celebri...olin-campbell/
I have to say i agree with her for the most part. I think this will cause ripples for some time to come, as older established celebrities are going to be even more put off doing the show after this debacle, for being too scared of being chucked out and perhaps even having their reputation in tatters due to a producers decision. We will just end up with even more series filled with these reality TV no marks like Marnie and Bear,

"this isn't Nazi Germany", well if it was surely there wouldn't have been a problem with what he said?

I think it highly unlikely that Biggins didn't get his full fee. He's gone the extra mile to exonerate BB. Consider the damage he could do, if they with-held his fee.
The only way BB would be liable for Biggins words would be if they were scripted. Can you see BB admitting that, even if it were true? And let's not forget, it's BB producers who decide what gets broadcast to the public. They could have buried the entire palava, Biggins would still be in the house, and none of us would be any the wiser. |

Older person with a lot of forthright opinions backs up another oldie who got into hot water about his "opinions".....well i guess we could see that coming.

Surely any housemate is responsible for the words that come out of their mouth. If Biggins had used hate speech or said things the public would find unacceptable, the onus is on him. Far as I can see, BB went out of their way to protect Biggins reputation, not the other way round.

Don't think this is about money.! And it is a fair point. It is about reputation! It wasn't even a complaint from someone on the show.Itsx come from a relative of Katie.Katie herself was more upset about Bears attitude. The family. comes. their opinion on highlights..I think it likely that bb. was bothered about being sued.
The reality stars have no reputation to lose. |

Of course I haven't. So what? If Biggins had gone on a rant about Nazis being great and made jokes about millions of murdered people, they would be Biggins own words, not BB's. I don't get your point.
I truly believe that the whole thing was a stitch-up for ratings. Biggins could surely not have been unhappy to be let out of that dreadful environment, walks away with his paycheque intact, and gives just one interview to give credence to the farce and laughs all the way to the bank. |

You posited the theory that BB had gone out of their way to protect Biggins by not broadcasting what he said. I maintain that IF he said anything at all about it, it was done in a jokey manner. Certainly Katie has not appeared to be upset about the whole thing.

I agree with her in that what's the point in carrying a warning if the HMs are then going to be removed.
There's also the issue that HMs have done/ said far worse than him (even in this series) and weren't removed. He was removed to gain publicity and so they didn't have to pay him so much |

it's about the degree of offense,, someone shouting "f*cking ****" is not as offensive as if they said "all jews should be killed"? ![]() personally I am deeply offended by Lewis's muffin top, but they don't have any warnings for that

He showed his true colours. Underneath all that pathetic laughing there not a very nice person.
He seems to get joy out of demeaning people. |

As I have pointed out before; I don't think BB wanted to boot Biggins out, they hoped to get away with just a warning, the papers said he was removed after 'discussions with lawyers and Endemol'.

Parts of the story were in the press before anything was mentioned on BB. There was the Secret Squirrel transcript. Regardless if it was a fake or genuine, it let the cat out of the bag, and after that there was only damage limitation. Biggins is still responsible for his own words. Whatever he said, they got shot of him. They are not obligated to pay him if he breached the terms of his contract.
It had to be Katie had a talk with BB or someone on staff was offended and pushed the issue. The other HMs seemed confused about his removal so it couldn't have been a big incident INSIDE the house. Something happened behind the scenes. |
