Ready made pasty for Choco cream Eclair?

Hello all

I want to make some fresh cream eclairs and was wondering if anyone knows of any ready made pastry I could use to make the choux pastry? I know the shops sell Shortcrust Pastry Ready Rolled and Puff Pastry Block but would they work for what I need?

Hope someone can help?

I know it looks scary, but the pastry is actually really easy to make and far less fiddly than the pastry cream that goes inside of it.

Give it a try and I promise you won't look back.

(Best case scenario for pre made: try the most upscale grocery you can think of. If anyone's freezer case would stock it, that would be the place.)

Pidy supply ready baked choux pastry into the UK

I have seen it in Makro - attached website has a number so you may be able to find a stockist in your area

Thanks all, I was thinking of using this

http://www.tesco.com/groceries/produ.../?id=259728007

Jus-Rol Puff Pastry Block 500G

rather than making choux pastry, do you think it would work, even if not the same shape would it still taste the same as choux pastry

It would taste great, but it wouldn't be an eclair.

Here, maybe this would work for you, using premade pasrty rather than the suggested from scratch.

Would the pastry taste the same as the pastry on a choc eclair?

No, it would not. Choux is tender and gives with the bite. Puff pastry when fresh, is flaky. It fractures when bitten into.

Think of it this way : I want to make Eccles cakes. I'm out of rasins, but I have a jar of mince leftover from Christmas. I don't have any puff pastry either, but there's a frozen short crust. That should work, right?

It would, if I was making mince pies. You cannot change fundamental ingredients and have the same result.

No, it's totally different. You would end up with something more like a cream horn

Or you could just buy some eclairs from the supermarket
