I also liked him telling her that just because they once had a one night stand did not mean she could stick her nose in his business or words to that effect. She needed telling!!

It would've been cringeworthy line if anyone else said it.

Funny thing is I would love Kathy to reply saying I never died,
And you can talk Grant you were presumed dead for a while when you drove your brother into the river |

Grant's return was worth it just for that. I'm fed up of Kathy being on her high horse after what she did. This is the problem, she can never be the Kathy that we knew 85-99 because that Kathy would never have done what we now have to accept Kathy did. From a practical point of view, where did she think all that money came from? Did she think nobody was ever going to have a problem with having financed her and Gavin being on the run for nearly 4years or expect it back? And she offers 50 quid. You've got to laugh. |

To which Grant could reply - my apologies, you just let your son's believe you were dead, I'm sure they didn't need you even when one went to prison and the other ones daughter died.
They really don't compare. Grant was only thought possibly to be dead for a few days at most. He's clearly not been living under an assumed identity for the past 16 years, moves freely between Portugal, England and god knows where else under his own name so we presume that the Police knew he was alive from his going to Portugal and more to the point, he didn't let his family, especially child, believe he was dead for years. |

I wish they could get Ross to come in for a few months at a time to fit in around his other projects, Grant adds so much to the show

Had to love Martin calling Grant bad news, lest we forget he killed his cousin Jamie

Kathy was a good mum to Ian into adulthood and only abandoned Ben because she was in an abusive marriage.
Gavin led her to believe she was protecting her sons. That came out in the episode where they were on the private plane. Gavin being a crap character doesn't change any of that. We still saw a man who was unhinged who eventually killed his own sister. Phil willingly stayed out of Ben's life for years and has no moral high ground over Kathy the way he has parented Ben. Also we shouldn't forget that Phil kept quiet about Kathy being alive for 3 years. I haven't seen Kathy go round with the moral high ground. She has let quite a lot go to the extent people are commenting on how she is meek this time round. She didn't for instance confront Stacey over breaking Martin's heart. She is accepting of what she did whenever it comes up and never defends it even though it wouldn't have happened if she hadn't married Gavin. As for Grant he seems to have done okay with Courtney who has turned out a lot better than Ben. Although Courtney does seem to have a problem with him putting it about. And the actress has said that Courtney is more like the parent in the relationship. Grant should take the money issue up with Phil as he's the one who gave it to Kathy. |
