In which US states do AT&T use 1900 MHz for 3G?

I've got an Alcatel One Touch Y580 mobile WiFi device which works on 900/1700/1900/2100 MHz for 3G. I have a Vodafone Ireland SIM card which roams using AT&T in the US. AT&T use 850 and 1900 for 3G but don't use both frequencies in all states. So I can only pick up AT&T where they are on 1900 as my device doesn't have 850.

I have just come back from a visit there and the device didn't pick up AT&T in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, but worked in New York and Maryland states.

Is there a list of which states AT&T use 1900?

I have also got a Three SIM card which works on both AT&T and T-Mobile, meaning that I can use that where Vodafone Ireland doesn't work as T-Mobile 3G is on 1900. But Three is usually painfully slow and not viable for streaming radio, whereas Vodafone Ireland worked brilliantly (where it was available).

Try a Vodafone UK or EE UK SIM card and you can use AT&T and T-Mobile USA on 1900 in most states on 3G or 2G. There is very little coverage on 850mhz mostly in the very southern states (e.g. Texas / New Mexico area).

Most of the other frequencies have been shuffled across to LTE (4G in European speak) and both my corporate Vodafone UK and personal EE SIMs gave access to LTE on TMobile USA in June. (I was in Colorado).

Vodafone UK costs £25 per 100 MB and EE costs £7 per 100 MB so you might as well get a local SIM card instead. Vodafone Ireland costs 2.99 euros for 200 MB.

Tmobile USA have "tourist plan" if you don't need your home number:
