I never watched Eastenders during Grant's previous stints. If one was to believe the press and the hype around him, an amazing character and fantastic actor would be expected.
Instead, we get mediocre acting from a Neanderthal character. I had to turn off when he made a comment about Jane not telling him about her legs. At that point I realised both the script, and the "acting" had reached the point of no return!!
What do other people think?

I didn't see him in the 90's either. I must have seen him 2006 but he can't have really registered with me to be honest. Based solely on this return I don't get the hype either. He's a bit wooden and Steve McFadden acts him off the screen. The character is quite cheesey and camp - he seems very dated.

But then I don't get the Kathy hype either, bad actress and the character has no personality.

I've started skipping his scenes, another overrated mitchell.
Though I do like Peggy and Louise.
Sometimes Ronnie.

My mum fancies him. I guess that is all he is good for these days. Eye candy.

His acting may be down to being away for so long doing those documentrys.

I only like Honey and the younger Mitchells like Ben and Jay. The rest can die in an explosion for me. I want Vile Sam to be the next Mitchell death though for her appauling parenting.

I've said this time and time again, he really is nothing special at all. Phil/Steve is far far superior, it wouldn't bother me if he never set foot in the square again.

Seriously? It took an entire swat team to arrest him once. Tell me another Mitchell who could single handedly fight riot police?

Definitely all young viewers on this GM thread I sense, who don't date back very far at all! His three stints have been patchy in the show though, I will say - always found him to be overrated even in his main 90s 'action man' stint. However trying to draught in a character as he from two different eras in the show (the 90s and less so the mid 00s) is always likely to be risky though, it hasn't really worked with Sharon and Kathy either in many regards. This, especially as not many on here seem to be able to even recall Grant from his brief second stint in the show 10-11 years ago when Dennis Rickman, Johnny Allen, brother Phil and so on were still the Square's bad guys! Not sure if he's meant to be long or short term for this stint though.....

Pffft, Phil has survived being shot not once but twice! countless car crashes, Queen Vic fire, BnB fire, alcoholism, drug addiction, numerous fights, heart attack and that's just what I can remember off the top of my head.

There was a tongue in cheek moment years ago whe Grant and Phil were chasing some thug and they looked at each other and said 'were too old for this' perfect for the characters.

I also remember the time they both drove the car into the River Thames after the bust up with those gangsters! Must've been during the late 90s.....

Ross doesn't seem into playing him anymore imo the passion just isn't there.

I think this will be his final stint on the show this time.

Early days maybe. I haven't got a clue whether he's just been brought in for a few weeks, months or maybe longer.....as I don't read many threads on here these days to establish such facts, as I just prefer to watch the show unfold more now without knowing what's going to happen in advance, otherwise it's pointless watching it IMO if you know these things ahead of time! Anyway for now it looks like he's got the staying power of Sam Mitchell - in other words not much!

Not even close

How does that make him the greatest character ?

I like Ross Kemp, he comes across as a genuinely nice who who doesn't just do things to raise his profile and covers stuff he genuinely cares about (the Army being one). His documentaries are brilliant but his acting is rubbish.
