Is show an effort to promote Bear?
He's like Poochie. When he isn't around all other HMs are talking about him. Makes me wonder if Channel 5 haven't already signed some kind of deal with HMs they anticipate will emerge as the main protagonists from the series and are using the show to promote them in order to effectively promote their investment. The only thing we see is:
1) Bear 2) Showmance (of which one of the two that are ongoing involves Bear) Other HMs don't even make the highlights for anything more than a few seconds for reasons that aren't: - Talking to Bear - Discussing Bear with others I don't think I've ever seen a series where one person was the sole focus as is the case with this series and Bear. They even completely ignored the party they threw for the other HMs because 'Bear did something'. Had Bear been invited to the party, even if he sat in the corner with a plastic cup full of flat coke for the evening - we'd have seen nothing but the party. It's either the most boring house in history, which given the personalities in there I'd doubt, or there's some predetermined plan to promote Bear either to raise his profile for post-BB work that the channel/production company are involved in. Preview of tomorrow's HL show, from Marcus's narrations that will be recorded this morning

There is no question that the entire house is revolving around Bear
That's not because of BB, or the other housemates ... it's because of BEAR He is overwhelming everyone else in there, and that's all there is to it No conspiracy ... no BB masterplan ... just a housemate who's personality is over-powering the others |

This forum is almost as bad as Tumblr for all the conspiracy talk about contracts and promo.

When has BB ever thrown half the house a party and not shown as single second of it. If even to acknowledge that it was going on?
Instead they focused entirely on Bear. When they ignore events such as parties because Bear isn't involved, I don't think it's particularly conspiratorial to question if they've an interest in promoting one HM above the others. There's often an over powering, domineering, bullying HM but has anyone ever dominated the entire narrative as he has to the point where they actively ignore everything else, even a party, because Bear is talking about himself. Even if the party was just a few shots of bad dancing, at least show that instead of being worried that it'd draw focus off Bear talking about having his bumhole fingered during sex. It's things like that which make me wonder if it is just because Bear is a domineering personality, or if there's a concerted effort to make sure that other than the (other) showmance, everything revolves around Bear. You've got: Sam Fox - opinionated James - made a career of being a gobshite Rene - bullish, 'mob wife' Frankie - reality TV veteran Aubrey - ditto ...who have all apparently spent 2 weeks doing absolutely nothing of interest outside their interactions with Bear. I don't buy it. There must be stuff we aren't seeing because it doesn't fit into the 'WWBD?' narrative. It probably isn't just Bear, all the scripted reality stars are probably either on some kind of contract for 5/Endemol to use them in other shows post-BB, anticipating a spike in interest, or there's no agreement but 5/Endemol hope to have one with them going forward, hence why every HM who isn't likely to be of much reality TV value in future (i.e those who'll go back to work/America) aren't getting air time because it's in nobody's interest to promote them, particularly. . |

There is no point in fighting because they simply cannot win - their only power is to actually try and melt into the background because at least then they can feel as though CH5 is paying them for nothing. Part of can't help but wonder if that's what happened to Biggins (and I couldn't stand him....). He too realised that CH5 was supporting Bear and wanted out... but could only do so by accepting that "scandal". I'm amazed we haven't seen more "accidents" and "suspected heart attacks" by now... because I'd be desperate to get out of that house. As to the OP's question - well CH5 put Rylan in there to showcase him for BOTS... wonder how much longer Rylan's BOTS contract has to run? I found it very telling when Bear's brother used the pussycat insult to Rylan and Rylan didn't retort. |

I have aired my views on this issue already in a previous post. It is so blatant. For BB to gain viewers the producers are doing everything they can to keep him in.
His name is getting a constant plug and its fast becoming obvious that he is going to end the winner. Like i have said in the past his behaviour is disgusting however for a reality show such as BB thats the type of character the show seems to want? Annoying, frustrating but at the end of the day why get upset about it? its only a reality show at the end of the day. He will make a quick buck and within a fortnight after the show it will all be forgotten. |

Ch5 need to get their own version of GS/Towie as they have nowhere for these 'showcased' characters like Bear to go. Bear might get onto Towie like Megan McK did but there's nowhere on Ch5 for him atm.

Yes it is the same as Vicki Pattison going into the jungle. That was to promote her into the mainstream of daytime television and I'm sick of her being pushed down our throats as some sort of nations sweetheart. Obviously not the same objective for bear but a promotion of him all the same.

Probably he is in the new series of Ex on the beach which has just started on MTV which is owned by the same company as Channel 5.

Oh please don't let Bear be allowed out of the house, keep him in there as a permanent fixture. He could become the new talking chest of drawers...anything but I never want to see his creepy face on mainstream tv.
