Why is everyone calling Stephen Bear by his surname

We don't call Chloe Khan-Khan, James Whale-Whale, Sam Fox-Fox etc etc

Isn't it bad manners to call someone by their surname .

Everyone calls him Bear and that's who he was known as on Ex on the Beach. I think it's what he prefers.

Presumably because that's what he wants to be called?
Can anyone remember what he introduced himself as to the HM's on launch night?

Sounds more butch and impressive than Stephen doesn't it. It's just image. In the same way that Bear (fake) Grylls sounds more TV friendly and macho than Edward

Everyone who ever went to school was at some point exclusively known by their surname.

You never heard of Morrissey? His first name is Stephen too.

Depends on who you want to impress . Well as he has no respect for anyone the best way to deal with him is NOT give him what he wants . I'd say c'mon now Stephen behave yourself . Pity Heavy or some of the others don't try these tactics .

I get called by my surname by certain pals, I don't have a choice I heard he's been called Bear since school and he is probably used to it.

It is more unusual for women to be known by their surname though, isn't it? I much prefer Bear to Stephen.

When he first popped up on our TV screens in 'Shipwrecked' he was Bear then ... It's what he likes to be known as.

I know, people still call me by my first name, also. Somebody started it off, then it spread. My surname is a bit distinctive, so I guess that must be it.

Yes, it definitely it suits him!

A bit like Christopher Biggins being called just Biggins?

I would not call him Bear or Stephen but I better not say what I would call him.

I've heard people on TV referring to him as Biggins before.

I should have been clearer. I just meant, in a way, that I was agreeing with you.
