Im hating all this fake 'reality' shite dominating CBB every year, even normal BB. So here is what we should do if we really want our voices heard.

NO TWITTER. (every tweet is a win for BB, unfollow BB)
NO VOTING. (telephone, polls on websites etc)
Change the channel when the ads breaks are on (that'll hurt them most)

Just stay here and talk about it. BB take no notice of DS anymore!

If enough people do all that, then the producers will maybe start to listen.

In turn, if a non reality star gets to the final, VOTE VOTE VOTE for the outside, vote against BB's chosen one!!

Silly thread i know, but if 100k watchers did all the above, the Producers would worry!

Why don't you just turn over and watch The History Channel instead.

Stop watching altogether would be the best option, I mean if it's that bad why are you still watching?

I don't watch normal big brother and haven't since it left Ch4 because it's not the same show it used to be. I only watch the celeb version as it's far better.

May be as a long term BB fan they want the show to improve, aren't they in the right place to discuss that?

Reality tv isn't an issue as a whole if you want to watch love island, or Geordie shore great but why should BB be a poor imitation? Why should the fans be forced to watch poor tv when they avoid those shows in General? Why candy BB fans discuss the lows and highs of the show on a BB forum???? I never get ppl that tell others to switch off.....people enjoy BB overall but you can criticise it at times you know. A series may be rubbish, but you hope it improves the following year as you enjoy BB as a brand and not individual series every time.

I Will agree however that their are enough zeleb hms in cbb without them beginning to ruin civillain BB too.

If you've never watched Civilian BB since C5 took over, then how do you know Celeb version is far better

I've stopped watching, stopped tweeting and well no one at work has spoken about Big Brother since 2006, so no problem there

But unfortunately unless everyone does the same thing and the audience shrinks it will just go on same old every year

I think audience viewing figures are one of the more misunderstood aspects of fandom. The "I'm not going to watch it, I don't want to give them the ratings." stance is a completely meaningless gesture unless you are part of the selected household used to accumulate the ratings. All figures released by barb are a calculated average based on the viewing habits of a select group.

Seen the odd episode here and there, it's not the same show it used to be plus I kind of knew what direction it would take under channel 5 and I seem to have been proved right.

Besides I just don't have time to invest so much time into one programme, the Celeb version is shorter and sweeter plus I have a fair idea about some of the people going in already.

Point of the post is if you don't enjoy BB anymore then stop watching, I did and I couldn't tell you one winner or anything that's happened in normal big brother since it left CH4. It's so easy to avoid, well in my circles anyway.

I purposely sat out the civvy series, and am doing a pretty good job of avoiding this CBB, Not intentionally this time, I just have only ended up bothering to watch about 3 episodes so far.
While I'm sure I am not alone in this, I think generation snowflake will more than make up for people like me opting out, so its probably highly unlikely that we'll see a huge impact in viewing figures, vote or other markers of interest.

I think lovers of "old BB" have to just accept they've taken our show and repackaged it for someone else. Our loss, their gain.

Great post. BB on Ch4 was fantastic and one of my favourite shows of all time, there was a real buzz throughout the country on Friday eviction nights and there was far more interest and hype around it back then than there is today despite the explosion in social media.

Every show has a shelf live and CH4 were right to get rid, it's a shame it couldn't have had a 15 year break ready for a rejuvination because I feel Ch5 have jumped the shark now. I saw a few eps on CH5 and decided it wasn't for me anymore and have avoided it ever since. The show has changed for a new audience, why are so many people so bitter about that. If you hate it, stop watching it and move on.

If people want to "get at the producers" then the only way do it is to completely stop watching and commenting. Any other form of protest draws attention to the show. BB may not care about DS anymore (apparently), but talking about the show in any way, even highly negatively, draws attention to the show, which is what the producers want.

The producers clearly are trying to attract a different type of viewer - those who love the scripted reality shows. I don't watch them because I have no interest in the trashy exploits of their 'actors'. This CBB is particularly bad so I'm not watching the HLs - find the Olympics more interesting. Occasionally look at LF but until at least 2 of the yob squad are gone, I won't watch the main show.

Big Brother is the daddy of all reality programs. You would have thought they could be at least a little bit classy and original. Not have the same old reality idiots and copy tasks from other versions.

It's almost exactly the same, there isn't much difference at all. They are both terrible now.

I actually logged on today to say exactly this. I don't watch Geordie Whore or TOWIE or any of the other so called reality shows because I don't want to watch snotty kids having sex and getting drunk. BB was different and now it's just the same old trashy drivel aimed at an ever younger audience. I live in hope that it will get back to what it once was.

The one's who went to the DR the other night helped. There is no way that Renee just happened to win over the clique to replace herself.
