The only reason for a freeze is to allow voters to switch their vote to another person.
It's so easy for BB to manipulate viewers.
In a straight vote you simply try to evict or save who you want completely blind to how the vote is going. Once the line is closed, that's it. You took your chances to save or evict who you wanted and that's it.

Freezing the vote allows BB the opportunity to give a housemate they want to save a good chance.
It's the only reason why sometimes they do it and sometimes they don't.
It's a way to try to manipulate the vote once the vote has opened, whether it's successful or not,
