You can't even call Britney a pop act anymore when she's trying to sound all r'n'b with guest rappers, etc. Ariana Grande, who I like as a singer, did such a stupid routine, I thought and had to go and ruin her performance by getting the screechy Minaj on with her! The whole show was so one-dimensional. As for Beyonce's performance, well people go on about Lady Gaga being OTT and pretentious, I thought Beyonce was exactly that! Sure, she has a great voice and her performance was quite a visual spectacle but I found it really pretentious and as for the music, dreadful! Where was the melody?!! It made me laugh when she kept shouting to the audience "come on, sing along, sing with me" - singalong to what?!!! There was so melody, no catchy hook in anything she sang to singalong to!! Rihanna's performances, well I wasn't keen on the majority of songs she chose to perform. She's had so many better hits than those she chose, imo. Her final medley, where she sang Stay, Diamonds and Love On The Brain was my favourite by far. None of the tiresome gyrating, crotch-grabbing and twerking, just a good performance and she sang really well, I thought. Probably my favourite moment of the night was Drake's speech when presenting Rihanna with her award. I can't stand Drake's music but I thought his speech was really sweet and heartwarming. He seems like a nice guy. It's just his music I don't like!

The least said about Kanye West the better (his ego knows no bounds!) and who were those 2 hosts, who seemed to fancy themselves as comedians? Honestly, I've watched the VMA's every year since the early 90's and I have to say this was, by far, the worst one EVER!!! At least in the past you had a real variety of nominees and performers, from all styles of music, not just r'n'b and rap!!

As for Lady Gaga, yes I think she would have been a highlight of the show, whatever she sang! I'm looking forward to her new music. She always seems to come out with something interesting and enjoyable, even if it's not always entirely original! ”

Agree with all this. Ariana was especially poor, considering she is a good singer, she let herself down with that "song". Let's hope Gaga makes pop music interesting again like she did during the Fame/FM. Her 2009 VMA performance is iconic. Her 2011 was great too, the only one that was so-so was 2013.

I hope her new stuff won't be as abstract as AP was, as that bores the GP very quickly.

Perfect Illusion is a great lead single!

Gaga just announced on Radio 1 she's worked with Beck, Mark Ronson is the executive producer on her album and there's a duet with Florence Welch!

She has the official title/ release date which is this year!

LG5 is coming sooner than we think!

Apparently she's almost finished the album

Her song with Beck is a "dance song" and the duet with Florence Welch is called "Hey Girl"
