I know somebody who bought a house in Spain and every time spoke to the Spanish estate agent on the phone he put on a Mexican accent like you hear in the movies. His wife used to try a stop him but he couldn't help himself.
Ricky is getting right up my beak. He's trying to be what he clearly isn't and every other word is f.ck. I preferred him when he was quiet and in the background.

I once flew from Newcastle to Malaga on a plane full of Geordies, and within twenty minutes was saying things like 'aha', 'eeee' and 'nah', it's very catching.

Like the saying goes you are are damned if you do and damned if you don't!

That's me.
Ricky seems to be a natural mimic, which for an actor must be useful. His American accent differs defending on whether he is talking to Momma or Frankie. His London 'bruv' accent is also different when he talks to Heavy or Sam. He's more refined when talking to Saira or James. I don't think it is contrived. My daughter says going to our local Indian restaurant with me is a total embarrassment.

To an extent it can be quite helpful. By falling in with the register of the person you are speaking with, it can show unity and liking and helps build rapport. Until of course you over egg it and go for a full comedy cod accent.

Yes, I have known a few people in real life who do that, and I think it's very common in actors, for obvious reasons.
I think that Ricky speaks in a generic 'cool and down with the kids' accent that their young presenters adopt on the BBC. You used to hear plenty of young presenters on BBC3 speak like that.
I really done like his street accent, with every second word being an expletive. I'm finding myself fast forwarding him on the rare occasions he is featured.
