Does anyone agree? It is nice and very popular but not really worth the money. We went last night and I only went cos I wasn't paying. Got my debit card out but was told to put it away. Those are the meals out that I like! Could have eaten a bit more chicken but daren't say. I do like the drinks refills so had 5 glasses of Fanta.

I agree. I've been to Nandos about four or five times in my lifetime, always with people who rave about how great it is.

I must be missing something. It's always been shite.

. Everyone raves about it as if it's some great restaurant or something so I'm obviously missing something too! Not keen on those sauces either and what's with the small glass Heinz ketchup bottles? Come on Nandos and get the big plastic ones!! Bet they waste tons in the bottoms of those bottles.

i think they are attempting to be a little more upmarket than MacDonalds.. the glass bottles are far more asthetically pleasing than a bottle of Tesco everyday value.

Those who rave about it are in the minority. Most people know it's mediocre. On that basis, I don't think it's generally overrated.

Its better than your average chicken shop.

I kind of think its the type of restaurant people who aren't very adventurous with food would go to. Safe and predictable. I've eaten there a few times with people who have wanted to go there. I didn't expect to be wowed and I wasn't, but at the same time it wasn't totally awful either. Unexceptional but not bad value.

I like Nandos but I don't "rave" over it.
My nearest one is clean, has good service and I like the (medium) spicy (butterfly) chicken. It's not my first choice for an evening out but handy when you've been to the cinema (which is close by) and reasonably good value.

That's what I thought. Most people that I know treat it as a bit of a joke, OK but nothing special. Those who rave about it must leave a sheltered life as far as restaurants are concerned.

It's the usual thing, at the begining it was a "new" and felt different. Then they built a couple more venues and you started to see the quilty of the food was not as good as the orignal venues.

Then the Buzz team started there campaign and whenever people see a buzz they follow it and copy all the terms they are told. So when someone asks where is the best place to eat they automatically say Nandos mostly because it's cool to say rather than if you personally like it and feel the food and experince is good.

To quote Will from The Inbetweeners when he said sarcastically. "Ah Nandos, the hallmark of quality".

Never been to one and never been tempted. When I've walked past our local one all I've seen are tables of people eating boring looking chicken and chips. Frankly, KFC looks more appetising.

My brother took us to a Five Guys place last year and it was pretty good. Pricier than your regular burger joint but far better quality, so worth it I think. Their portions of fries are massive though.

Five Guys is good. I like the fact you can order beer with your burger too! I made the mistake once of ordering the large portion of fries with my burger for myself... That's a LOT of potato!

I used to go to nandos 10+ years ago and thought it was quite nice / tasty etc. If a little messy. I would rate it as equivalent to KFC (but clearly different).

I won't use Nandos any more though as they're all Halal around here (not sure if they all are nationally).

Wow. A restaurant serving beer! What will they think of next?

I think the point was that McDonalds and Burger King don't do it. Five Guys is essentially a fast food burger place, 99% of which don't serve beer.

Burger King have been serving beer (bottles of Heineken at the one I've been to) for about five months now.

GBK serves beer so I'm not buying your 99% claim.

Unusual for a walk-in and order at the counter type of burger joint though. And its decent beers, Camden Brewery, Goose Island, Brewdog etc.
