I wouldn't call GBK a fast food burger place personally.

My 99% was clearly a made up statistic, I have no idea what it really is but when McDonalds and the vast majority of BK don't do it then it's clearly a very high percentage.

Yes. Sheffield. It's national though. There was a big thing about it in all the papers last March that they'd been granted a licence to sell beer in one of the London branches, and that they were going to extend it to other Burger Kings throughout the UK.

Five Guys is good. It does what it says on the tin and the burgers there are good, greasy decent burgers if that's what your after. Huge selection of drinks as well, from beers to a soft drinks machine that lets you have strawberry coke. It is expensive though that's the only problem. Nando's I don't mind, however apparently all the chicken arrives at the restaurant pre-cooked and they just heat it up when they serve it to you. Also I find that unless you drown the chicken in sauce then it's very dry.

Nandos is useful for when you need a quick reliable meal that isn't a traditional fast food joint.

You haven't got to flap about waiting to be served. Just wait for food, eat, and go.

It is a bit underrated but I do love the perimaise sauce!
GBK is probably my fav burger joint though.

Been once, wouldn't bother going back. The food was crap and overpriced.

When one opened in our town you would have thought it was the second coming! People were so excited that they could finally have a 'cheeky Nandos' (shudder!) They couldn't wait to boast about going on Facebook and not forgetting to check in.

Personally I'd rather go somewhere that doesn't sell Halal meat and doesn't claim to be something it's not.

There are loads of places you can walk in and order a beer and burger at the counter. They are called "pubs".

The only Burger King I've seen serving beer in the UK have been at airports. There may be more but I only go into them in times of food emergencies.

I used to live near a Chinese takeaway which sold cans of lager from under the counter. You had to ask for a "special tea" and give them a wink.

I dunno. You can order and pay via the app, have the food brought to your table when you arrive and be done and dusted in as little time as it takes to eat your meal. That's fast food as far as I'm concerned.

Doesn't TGI Friday serve alcohol? I've never been in one but always amused they did.

There is a takeaway that I sometimes order from, they do dishes very similar to Nandos, Half a peri peri chicken (Your choice of heat) with chips for £7.50, so by the time you add Corn on the Cob, it would probably work out roughly the same price as Nandos. I do like a cheeky Nando's but only when friends are in agreement, which isn't that often.

There is a five guys opening up in Norwich soon, so will try them at some point, along with Turtle Bay that are also opening soon, I love Caribbean food, so will be interesting to see what Turtle Bay is like.

Nandos is just KFC without the skin or gravy.

I concur that Nando's are overrated.

Tasty, and I still happily go there as a sinful treat, but I remain entirely mindful that it is what it is.

My light bulb moment was when I ordered a take out. When stripped back to basics, a squished burger in a McD's style grease proof wrapper and fries in a McD's style cardboard box, you really see it for what it is and that it cost over a tenner! Since then I figured Nando's is just a takeaway on a plate, and one you pay a handsome premium for.

I also find it outrageous that they give no discount for take-out. That is surely the done thing, because you are not tying up a table, waitress service or any clean up after.

Buy some Nando's hot sauce and piri-piri salt from the supermarket, bang it on a KFC and you are laughing all the way to the bank and a full tummy!

Fair enough. There's still only 70 of them though as opposed to well over a thousand McDonalds.

What is your issue with Halal chicken anyway? The only difference between the Halal meat used in Nandos and their non-Halal is that the Halal chicken is blessed, why does that upset you so much?

Because Nandos is basically McDonalds or KFC but trying to appear better than them.

I also don't think I should have to accept meat slaughtered in a way that doesn't agree with my religion. Without wanting to turn this into a Muslim bashing thread would you ask a Muslim to drink communal wine? After all it's only fermented grape juice that's been blessed. Or perhaps eat something from a Jewish Kosher deli? Thought not.

I don't really understand why you won't eat blessed meat? Hardly changes it does it? Just seems a bit strange.

We all have our beliefs and as I haven't actually said which religion I follow how do you not know that it isn't against my values. I respect my Jewish and Muslim coworkers and don't eat pork products in front of them for that very reason.
We all respect each other's belifes and often try different foods and drinks from the different cultures. Some are great, some not so.

I do like a Nandos every so often but I don't rave about it. The one in Leamington is quite new, opened 3 years ago I think and is quick, clean and never had an issue getting seated

I think Nando's do good food but unfortunately the take away service at the one near us is pitiful, they always get the orders wrong. Damned if I go there to sit down and eat either, it's always packed and you can be left waiting ages just to get your food.

To be fair they don't just do chicken and chips! I recently had a side dish of sweet potato wedges and fino coleslaw (which is nicer than the standard coleslaw) but they also do rice, garlic bread, corn on the cob and a new supergrain side dish (which I haven't had but my son liked)

And no I don't work there but went about a week ago when we originally set out for TGIs but the staff there were rude and ignored us for nearly 20 minutes so we walked out and went to Nandos where we were served efficiently by friendly staff and it was about half the price of TGIs.
