How many Bear-type personalities have you encountered in your life?

I've met two. One at uni, one at work.

The one at uni had the most impact, we were close group of friends all living in halls and, because we we young and naive, we thought that we could all "help" and "rescue" this person... we were thoroughly played. From money, to coursework, to ridicule and emotional games.

When I met the same personality type years late in the workplace, the memory of the first came flooding back like it was yesterday. She was female, mid-20s and the rest of the office were terrified of her and her strops. She absolutely ruled the roost. I found a new job within a month as I knew by then she would never change and working there would be a misery.

If you've met any Bear-types, how did you cope?

Ive got mates who are like Bear, they love a good wind up. Some have an aggressive tone but ultimately they are really harmless. I just join in and have a laugh with them, Ive got great tolerance levels.

I've met a few on building sites, but they always got their comeuppance very quickly, building sites in the 90s, didn't have the same 'rules' as CBB

You think Bear is HARMLESS!?

got to say, what type of childhood did you have that you think that sort of behaviour is harmless....

A few but they usually push their luck with the wrong person, being too stupid and self obsessed to understand how annoying they are..... and then it is the other persons fault.

This is a very good question.

There are loads of attention seekers, crowd pleasers out there but I have not met many bullies since school.

I worked for the biggest prick in history and I just tolerated it until I had enough money to leave, the bonus was it turned into voluntary redundancy so they paid me a lot of money to do something I had been planning to do for free.

I still cannot quite believe it when I think about it.

I have never seen him since.

wake up and have some self-respect , you are being a bullied doormat

anyway, you have said you'd hate to live with Bear numerous times, so I think you are being unkind on your mates

What behaviour? He threw a mug off a wall, I think we have all lost our temper at one point. Atleast he took it out on ab object rather than get aggressive with the housemates.

You would think he is evil, by the way people talk.

None thankfully. I'm guessing a lot of them are in prison and/or hospital beds as a result of said personality.

ive met lots.
my first at school, he could wind teachers up so bad one even went to punch him in the face he ducked and the teachers fist went through a window, sadly we could all see even at that age where his life was leading, he was 19 when he jumped from a multi storey car park.
Since then theres been many more wind up merchants, it gets to a point where you have to cut them from your life, I still have one very special wind up merchant in my life, hes brilliant a fantastic funny man, but he has a cut off point, he never ever takes things over the line, and thats the lesson that has to be learnt. there is a cut off point. you cant get nasty or personal when someone has a reply . if you want to be a good wind up merchant you have to learn you can't win the wind up every time.

Yes, worked with 2 and funny enough they come from near enough the same part of the world.
I believe 1 of them if given the opportunity to do TV would carry on the same way as Bear does if not worse.

Don't be silly - he's showing you how it feels when the boots on the other foot.

You don't like it. Bear doesn't either - but I don't understand WHY?

Because you say you do.

I've met a few sociopaths in my time. They are not nice to be around.

Ive been told to get self respect from someone I dont even know. This is meant to be a BB discussion thread, why bring personal stuff into it. We all know lots of different people, different characters. Just because I have mates who are a bit ott, doesnt mean I let them walk all over me. I find them funny and as annoying as they are they dont judge.

Yeah I can tolerate banter and wind ups but not a stranger telling me to get some self respect just because I have a couple of mates who are similar to Bear.
