Is this the start of a BB revolution to go back to the traditional style?

I skipped 13 but returned for 14 and the show was unrecognisable (I still enjoyed it though). But then look what it lead to with 15 & 16. I only enjoyed the last one because it was such a ridiculous parody of what it used to be, and they were lucky with some of the cast

They can't and won't do a reboot to 'old school', but they could easily make small steps in the right direction. That includes what we see on screen (a fair and balanced edit, consistency of rules, less manipulation, less outside influence, proper punishments) but also behind the scenes (not relying on the same agencies, get better production etc).

I think they might be very nicely surprised by the improved reaction from viewers

However, apparently the sole aim is social media 'noise' now, which imo will ultimately destroy the show (if it hasn't already - is there any way back? )

Perhaps Endomol could be persuaded to sanction a new BB concept.
Big Brother's (more intelligent sibling), might need to work on the title but you get what I mean...
Current BB is the "chat-line" "sink comprehensive school" version while the new one would be the "Successful Academy" "Who do you think you are" version.

Then let the veiwers/voters decide!

Channel 5 will never do a "respectable" Big Brother.

It seems to specialise in tacky, voyeuristic programmes about very strange people who live very odd lives, which obviously appeal to their audience demographic, so to do BB "properly" would not be in their interest.

They should give it up completely, dump Rylan and his influences and let someone else take over.

The very scripted sounding chat between Marnie and Lewis last HLs suggested the opposite.

The 'chat' had very little input from Marnie and featured an outstanding display of arrogance from Lewis. I would have called it a Lewis Monologue. Decidely creepy and utterly narcissistic. *shudders*

All it needs is it to be funny, have sparky contestants, occasional fights, a few spats, stop all the desperate attention seekers and narcissists from ever stepping into the house. It would be nice to see people who have such a well-rounded, humorous, quick witted and likeable personality who, whether they win or not, get on and do really well professionally after the show. Also, Big Brother needs to be the external force that causes the friction to the group. Not put people in there who cause the friction and then focus on them throughout the entire show.

We need subtexts shown not the main story and how people are reacting to the main story. We need a much wider lens on all the housemates, not just a chosen few.

We don't need gentle people sun bathing in the garden and we don't need all-out, argumentative, look-at-me types who'd shag a table if it had a pair of tits on it.

Why can't CBB (and BB) get it somewhere in between?

Not to be confused with Davro from last summer's CBB

Or Prince Philip who wants to reincarnate as a virus and wipe out most of humanity

Maybe alternate between reality tv people and other celebs

Summer - reality tv people all vying for story lines and attention with flirting and naked frolics hosted by Rylan

Winter - other celebs with more challenges and role playing with Emma

Mixing the 2 doesn't really work.

Gotta say, I hate Dr Who with a passion, as I do all shows of that genre, but I watched most of the link. Are you saying Lewis is Davros? He may be a complete narcissist and utterly deluded but he doesn't have that much control.

*Prince Philip, lol. Nice bloke hey!

Sorry to confuse doormouse, I'm not watching and just meant from what you said and other things I've read on here he sounds like Davros (mad, egomaniac, prone to nasty monologues) I'm certainly not saying Lewis has created an evil mutant army who plan to wipe out every other organism in the universe!!!

Oh yes Phil the Greek is one of my faves, absolute nutter that he is

Lol, no we'll leave that to the ptb.

Yes, I love Phil, I think he's so humane. I'm really glad they chose him for the family.

He is second only to Prince 'you can trace my bloodline back directly to Vlad the Impaler (Dracula)' Charlie on my list of royal family 'faves'

No I think most of us mean a strict shopping budget, decent tasks, proper punishments (especially for noms talk), no outside influence, less manipulation - those kinds of things.

I understood that Noms talk is breaking a BB fundamental rule.
This should carry an automatic "up for eviction that week".
Or at least disqualification from that week's nomination round.

Shopping task should be about winning a luxury budget or basic rations. Not the economy versions of chocolate biscuits (McVitie or Lidls). Not really worth working for!
