Greece is the only shocking qualifier for me ... would've taken N. Ireland or Gotland over it for sure.

Qualified this time, what a surprise.

Well, I took pity as Montenegro was still not claimed for days. And, I swear I didn't know that it's cover of a previous ESC song.
Two songs out now in the QFs. I hope to get one at least to the semifinals.

11th. Northern Ireland - 56pts (My 3): Quite sad for this, it was an amazing find that I enjoyed. This was another really strong QF for me though so it couldn't pick up any more points than 3.

12th. Israel - 51pts (My 5): Even I preferred this to Tasmanian Devil. Shocked and sad that this did so badly, was expecting it to do better. I really liked it.

13th. Gotland - 49pts: I'm shocked this didn't qualify, it was nice.

14th. Macedonia - 10pts: I very nearly gave this points, thought it was a good find for Macedonia. Sad to see it do as badly as it did.

15th. Montenegro - 9pts (My 2): I actually really enjoyed this one in a weird way. It was nice for Montenegro, quite sad it didn't reach double figures.

16th. Malta - 1pt (My 1): Omg </3 I didn't actually give this a pity point, I honestly quite liked it and while it wasn't groundbreaking I thought it was cute and I like that sort of song. Really sad I was the only person to give it a point.

DQ. Scotland - 44pts (My 10): I'm devastated that this had to be disqualified, although I'm surprised it would've only come 14th even if it wasn't. I've loved this for a while but it seemed nobody else did.

Really sad for N. Ireland because I really love it , but in the end I'm happy Yugi sent it in as it avoided me sending it and crashing in the QFs
Israel and Scotland really should've qualified too, I don't really understand all of these results...

Sorry! It wasn't a pity vote thing though, I genuinely liked the song (but only enough to give it just one point) and I expected myself to give it more than 1 point but sadly that's all I gave it.

Moldova - Nothing like her actual Eurovision entry (sadly). Passby. 6
Belgium - Another one that basically does nothing at all. Oh well. 6
Azerbaijan - Oh dear, this isn't a very good start is it . 5
Shetland Islands - At last, something decent . A good bit of typically Scottish rock. 8
Gibraltar - This just screams Eurovision doesn't it. Had this in mind to send if I got England. 9
Croatia - This might be the most un-Balkan entry there's ever been. It's not as good as some Croatian entries but there's been worse in this. 7
Ukraine - So she really is very famous in Ukraine*. Surprisingly not bad. 7
Bosnia - Yay, Balkan trash-pop . Wouldn't be DSFE without some. 6
Turkey - You're trying to be Sergey Lazarev aren't you? To be fair, like Sergey, I like this a lot more than I probably should. I think it's the 'Hey's. 8
Romania - It's a shame she's in the Jamala school of scream for as long as possible because there's a decent song there somewhere. 7
Sweden - This is really nice & catchy. Nice (& rare) to hear the Swedish language in song too. 9
Latvia - Decent pop-rock, a very good find for a tough country. 8
Ireland - This is interesting - very different to the usual girlband fare. Not sure...grower? 7
Switzerland - It took a whole to get into this, but I really like it in the end. 9
England - Another one that's pretty good, but not quite right at the top. The second part of the QF is much better than the first though. 8
Luxembourg - She's a little screechy at times but this is a good song at heart. The video is really beautiful too. 9
Western Asia - POLITICS!! Seriously, this makes 1944 look like Imagine. Not doing much for me - plus takes an age to start. 7

that's an odd statement. john lennon was quite radical and in his politcal views (especially at that time) and critical of political structures, he had definite anarchist undertones in his work. i think that comes forward in imagine.

Moldova - A departure from Fight, but still enjoyable for what it is, if a little outdated.

Belgium - One of those neither here nor there songs that I don't get.

Azerbaijan - Err...

Shetland Islands - I hate myself for it, but it's actually a bit of a toe-tapper once it gets going.

Gibraltar - Adore this song so much, glad it's crossed over from next door.

Croatia - Please kill me.

Ukraine - A big Ukrainian diva epic. Ticks all my boxes.

Bosnia & Herzegovina - Sometimes you just need a slice of the slut-tastic.

Turkey - I couldn't imagine Turkey doing something like this if they ever came back, so of course I whole-heartedly approve!

Romania - I love the way it builds throughout with that instrumentation. A real hidden gem this!

Sweden - So catchy. This is why I'd love Sweden to brave Swedish at ESC again.

Latvia - Poor Katrine, I still remember that 'crash and burn' in the Latvian NF. This is pretty decent though.

Ireland - I like it in places, but overall it's not really my thing.

Switzerland - This would be good for a car advert.

England - Nothing ground breaking, but it's alright.

Luxembourg - Cheesy, cookie-cutter lyrics. I actually liked the melody and could've looked past that, but then she started shouting at me in the chorus.

Western Asia - A badass anti-ISIS stomper. <3 What a way to close the show!

Some QF3 reviews today!

Kazakhstan - I always expect the Kazakh entry to be a carbon copy of most previous ones. This isn’t, but I’m still not really feeling it.
Svalbard - It’s not as good as ‘Skin’ obviously but nonetheless a very strong song. I enjoyed it, and I do like Mørland.
Greenland - It’s generic, it’s overly DMGP, he thinks he looks cool but does just the opposite. It is sort of catchy, but yeah, cringe.
Germany - The beginning was great, then it sort of turned into background music. It’s nice enough I guess.
Slovakia - I really shouldn’t like this, but I just do: a good bit of fun done the right way. Liking the instrumentals especially.
Iceland - Recall hearing this before, I do like his voice and the general mood. It gets a bit repetitive without really going anywhere though.
Morocco - I was ready to dislike this, but it’s actually a very clever find, a cute and somewhat catchy ballad. I ended up quite enjoying it.
Armenia - Another excellent find for a not-so-good country, does get slightly messy towards the end though. But overall, it’s great.
Belarus - Strange that such a relatively large country has such a small music scene. This is good enough, but a bit last decade.
Australia - Lazy choice, not even that good a song, and both their solo songs here were far better. Will probably do well though.
Bashkortostan - This is pretty cool and anthemic, and not as DJ-y as I’d expected. Will do for me actually.
San Marino - Still love her vocals, and I really appreciate that the song stays pure and simple. Beautiful piece of music.
Slovenia - It is nice and all and it is Slovenia, but it just completely passed me by. Quite flat.
Albania - Don’t know how this became such a hit: if it can, then nearly every Albanian QF exit here could too. Nothing that makes this better.
Austria - Cool and soulful, I just wish this had a better hook, but they are definitely a band to watch. I’m liking most of this.
Wales - Shake Shake Go are amazing, and this does just what I expect from this type of song. Right down my street.
Canada - Suspiciously reminds me of another song, but I still like this. It’s a strong closer to the QF.
