I still think Jack has been part of her exit all along I think he is part of the police setting her up DC Marsden has been dying to bring the mitchells down for years I think this time around Jack and Andy are both in it together they both came into it about the same time at the beginning of the year as did Hannah and Tim. I still think that Vincent is still grassing up to the police and by protecting his mum for killing Fatboy he will set up Ronnie

![]() Sorry if I spoiled it for anyone. I just assumed it would be all over the media. You can bet that if certain others had created your exact same post, no complaints would have been made whatsoever... Just a bit of mild jesting and tongue poking out emoticons. Very disappointed to hear this but at the same time, it makes sense because admittedly, Ronnie hasn't been used well this time around. The relationship she had with Charlie was ruined and went down the drain quick, I wasn't keen on the feud or relationship between her and Vincent. I also wasn't a fan of the villainous route (ala White family) that they went with her but fortunately it didn't work out and even that ended quickly. But at the same time, it's so disappointing because I love Ronnie. Again, it's wrong timing for this.
I think it's a bit of wrong timing because she has finally found some common ground with Jack again and they were really starting to build a good family unit. I also loved the relationship that Ronnie formed with Honey. I feel they really worked well together during their time as housemates and they were always their to provide care and support to each other. Short lived but sweet. They were good company for each other. Roxy being away really did her good. And now with Andy finally gone and out of the way, Ronnie has finally made piece with another figure of her past and asking Jack for her hand in marriage gave the indication that she is finally ready to move on and go forward in her life with no regrets. She could finally move on with Jack and focus on Matthew's wellbeing. But now to hear that she's leaving now is ugh. It's like all that work and effort that progressed was done for nothing. Jack essentially came back for nothing then and he's been very good this time around. I would have preferred if she left after marrying Jack and they probably could have left together. Unfortunately, it seems like Jack won't be leaving with her which is a shame because I genuinely hoped that things would work well for them this time. Ah well. I'm really going to miss Ronnie. She'll always be one of my favourite characters and her first saga in the square will forever be a great memory. Best of luck to Samantha. It will be sad to see her go again and I really hope they don't kill her off. Anything but death. However dramatic this will be, I want her to leave alive |

However dramatic this will be, I want her to leave alive I've loved Ronnie since Day 1 (or even before, as it happens, with the Calvin Harris' I Get All the Girls promo) and am properly gutted she's leaving early next year. I can understand the character needing a bit of a rest but now she's finally settling again with Jack and the kids, it feels utterly pointless. Especially so soon after revisiting history with Andy Flynn aka Gareth Jones. It was really nice to link her first stint and have so many characters mentioned or seen. That's a real shame. I must admit things haven't gone the way they should during this stint, as you pointed out. The biggest missed opportunity still remains her relationship with Charlie Cotton which was Incredibly refreshing. They hooked up really quickly but were brilliant together. The New Year's car crash was a personal highlight and the direct aftermath in hospital as well but why oh why did the TPTB have to destroy this relationship they had set up with Charlie by having an affair with Roxy while she was in a coma? So annoying how everything fizzled out after that. The Darth Ronnie period isn't my favourite storyline, as well as the whole debacle with Vincent but at least they tried something different. IMO, it didn't ring true to the character which is why they came to a halt after a couple of months. What annoys me is the wording on the official statement of her exit. It's so vague about everything that it's impossible to predict what happens and when it does. I pray it's only an extended break for Sam Womack so she can come back in a few years' time but it seems unlikely. I enjoy the character too much (as many do too) and sincerely hope her exit doesn't involve ending up in the cemetery, she's had way too much misery heaped on her for far too long. I shall treasure the months I have left, it's just the thought of Ronnie leaving makes me sad. ![]() ![]()

Its a shame sam is leaving although not that surprising. Hopefully she won't be killed off. I think her exit will have something to do with carl white. Not really sure why some are adding fatboy to the list when she had nothing to do with what happened to him. Sam won't be off screen long either apparently she has lots of projects in the pipeline. Im hoping one of them is a comedy because sam is very good in them. Good luck to her in whatever she does.

Good decision. She hasn't had the material and it doesn't seem like her heart's in it (unsurprising when you're given rubbish to work with). The Mitchells are currently over saturated so there's no chance from her to get any decent material either. Its a shame in my opinion, but a good exit is better than years floundering on the show.
What happened to Darth Ronnie? Yet another bold claim by DTC that he could neither follow through or live up to. So glad his reign of five minute wonders is over! I hope SOC is more strategic in his story planning, I think it's been a positive start By the way, I already saw the news and came here to see what people thought, so the OP spoiled nothing for me. I'm thinking arrested at her wedding? Have we had that recently? |

Very bold move to axe her and quite right. The character hasn't been who we know since the baby swap nonsense which ruined her characterisation and it was further ruined by DTC who didn't have a clue. Too much damage has been done and a rest is a good idea.
Anyone who thinks this isn't an axe, keep living in that denial land. That was a very polite way of saying she was asked to move on. They suggested it and she accepted is what happened. Like she can really say no to leaving lol. No one is bigger than the show. No one un-axeible. Promising start. Shows balls. |

So five impending departures. Buster Les Pam Andy and Ronnie. Easily the biggest name so far. I think Andy was a wasted character- they could have done a lot with him. Ronnie I agree with, the Mitchell's do feel very stale- but I have personally never understood the hype.
The article to me suggests that SOc felt Ronnie had fun her course and SW agreed- so an axing by all accounts but a mutually agreeable one. It does give me hope that the cast will be trimmed somewhat. Billy, Honey, Jack could all be at risk. There is also plenty more fat which could be trimmed. The best thing about this news is it seems like SOC has a vision and a goal of where he wants to be. Which could be promising for the show and the stories he wants to tell. As long as my three absolute favourites don't go - I will welcome the transition. |

But they then recycled everything with her. What does not make sense is if Ronnie has run her course then surely Roxy has too? Roxy has NEVER worked without Ronnie. So by keeping her around seems odd. Also what is the point of Jack without her? I actually want Ronnie to die so they can never ruin her character again in the future! but I suspect it will be another prison term. Not sure Sam would want to return though it's not like she is short on work offers and no point staying where your not wanted. |

I think Ronnie leaving EastEnders means Roxy's character development will finally happen again as it did in 2011-2013. I always thought Ronnie brings down Roxy.

Good move by the new producer. Some will disagree, but the biggest problem with Eastenders atm (aside from the lack of a great villain) is that there are too many long term characters/ 'big hitters'. There's no tension or suspense because we know the characters are too big or entrenched in other big character's storylines to have something life changing happen to them. Phil, Sharon, Ben, Ian, Jane, Mick, Linda, Ronnie, Billy, Roxy, Denise, Masood, Max, Martin, Stacey, Dot, Patrick it's a weird thing to complain about but there are too many 'legendary', untouchable characters about. The new producer needs to start introducing new, fresh characters with exciting storylines instead of relying on past glories. As for Ronnie it's sad to see her go, imo they should have kept on with her villainous arc: after everything she had been through it made sense to take her in that direction, but they wussed out of it.

Sean O Conner is actually on record as saying he doesn't like characters going unpunished for their crimes so I was expecting something to happen with Ronnie but not an actual exit. Looks like she answer for what happened to Carl and Fatboy.
Who else has committed crimes what they haven't faced justice for? puts their positions on shaky ground also...... Jane - for the whole dumping of Lucy's body, subsequent cover up, perjury etc Ian - perverting the course of justice Sharon - perverting the course of justice Phil - take your pick Claudette - killing her husband Vincent - covering up Fatboys death Babe - blackmail and extortion Kathy - crimes against nature (rising from the dead) Quote:

Ronnie returns in 2013 and Jack leaves. Jack returns in 2016 and Ronnie leaves. It all seems a little pointless to me.
I'm assuming that in the same way that DTC came to EE with some very strong initial storyline ideas (who killed Lucy, Carol's cancer etc) this is one of Sean O'Conner's. I think it would have a made a lot more sense to kill off Ronnie when she was in her brief 'villain' mode, but now she seems to have been constantly tormented for her crimes (not that it obviously excuses it) but now I think it would just be a bit of a pointless death. Although it would be very tragic heroine for Ronnie to finally get her child and then die. But what a waste for a child with Archie Mitchell and Nick Cotton as grandparents and Ronnie as a mother to get no interaction with the above characters, and instead be bought up by Jack Branning... |
