Little Mix - Glory Days (Album Thread)
First single coming soon.
In 2 separate interviews posted last week, Jade and Perrie gave out info. Some excerpts: However, fans of Little Mix shouldn't too worried at the prospect of Jade and the girls having a break, as Jade she revealed their highly-anticipated album will drop before the winter holidays. And it would seem that Little Mix have really hit their stride on album number four, as she said: 'It's moving a lot faster than any of the other albums have done, because we want to release it before Christmas, which means we have to have the first single ready pretty soon.' 'We've been setting up writing camps with people we know, so even we if can't make it to a writing session the music is still sure to be relateable to us,' said Jade. And it would seem the girls have pushed the boat out when it comes to who they've been penning music withe, with non other than Ryan Lewis coming on-board. And it seems their first single is ready to roll off the press already, as Jade saying the girls knew as soon as they wrote one song they 'knew'. 'Yeah, i think we have [picked it],' she revealed. 'It was weird as listening to the songs we have that is THE front-runner for a single, and it usually takes us ages to find as song for us to decide on, but this time we all said yes to it.' Source: Daily Mail We don't actually know much about LM4 yet (other than that they've had some studio sessions with Digital Farm Animals); so we thought we'd ask Perrie Edwards to give us all the goss. Here, friends, is what we found out: 1. It's gonna be 'epic' (obviously) "It sounds epic so far. So, so good. Oh my God, you should be excited. I love it, it's blowing my mind. I'm so happy with everything so far. It's going really well." 3. It's probably more Get Weird than DNA or Salute tbh "It's another step from anything we've ever done before. It's a lot more cool-sounding. It's quite slick, but at the same time it's kind of like Get Weird. It's very Little Mix, that's all you need to know. "Still pop, still fun, a little bit of quirkiness; especially production-wise this time. Some of it's quite chilled and laidback. You're in for a treat." 7. We might be getting it this year *struggles to cope with life* "You'll have to wait and see. Hopefully this year. We're onto a good thing, so we're just gonna let it happen naturally." Hopefully the lead single from album #44 will be another gem. I just hope it's not a rushed job because if it is, it will be very noticeable with the quality of songs.
I'd hate to see Little Mix go from releasing their best album to potentially releasing their worst just because of some greedy old men in suits thinking about how much ££££*.*££££ they can get out of it. I can imagine it'll sell well initially because it's coming off the back of an incredible era for Little Mix. If the next batch of singles aren't up to scratch then their new album won't sell anywhere near as well. |

I'm not loving the timeline either since I believe in resting the public, but I guess Syco needs income now that 1D isnt around. They probably want another big tour out of the girls next year too. Known tour stats from Billboard

I guess this is building on the success of Get Weird and the accompanying UK tour.
I expect LM4 to be something like GW but not completely. GW is a bit of a modern pop gem and is still in the charts, I believe. It contrasts well with a lot of the whiny, 'earnest' music that populates the charts. I also hope that LM4 has some of the retro leanings to the 60s and 80s which GW has. I'm primarily a 70s fan so I would like to hear some Philly sounds, sophisticated soul, early electronics (Numan, Kraftwerk style) and most of all a big rock song with guitars blazing. I don't really expect any of that but however but it must be a fun album. ( I notice the April 19 gig in Belfast is left off the list above) |

Impressive that they're releasing again so soon. They must be confident that they'll do well; I would've thought they'd wait until 2017 for album 4 as there's going to be some big releases in the next quarter.

Personally I think they (as in their team) should have spent a bit more time before releasing album #4. If they're happy for them to remain a local act fine, but they need a proper strategy for outside the UK and Australia or the album will go the same way as Get Weird.

As much as I liked Get weird, i personally found it no different to their debut. So i would like to see some progression in their sound. I liked the urban flavor of Salute and I had hoped they would of built on from that.

Missing And none of the Europe shows and most of the Asia shows too.Brighton March 14 Bournemouth March 15 Belfast April 19 I never quite know what to make of their pre album descriptions because they also said they wanted dancey club banger songs too. Maybe the GW reference meant its an assortment rather than a themed album. I found Salute to be kind of a slog to get thru because I didnt like any of the ballads. |

Mind you if Little Mix's next single can appeal to the Spotify generation, and get their single high up the streaming charts quite quickly then that would give the single a massive boost.
Black Magic was an outstanding pop song that had massive widespread appeal. If the girls can achieve that again then that will give them a massive boost from the off. I guess the record company want to have the album ready for a Q4 release so that Little Mix can promote it on X Factor. We'll probably see the girls perform the lead single exclusively on X Factor, then return for the live final where they perform the second single. That's how I'm reading into it anyways. |

I still think its because their team wants another lucrative tour pronto. |

Nahhh, they only performed on X Factor once last year and that was only to help out Fleur.
I'm trying to figure out how they schedule in the second single. Last year they performed their third single at the Jingle Bell Ball in Dec., and now its on its way to Platinum. Maybe they'll do the same for this second single? That would fit re appearing during the Final (shades of trotting out 1D) in the Dec. timeframe. Their profile has increased tremendously since a year and a half ago. |

Maybe this time they're just going to go with lead single from album #4 released late September/early October and start promoting the second single in December. That way, the second single might peak in the post-Christmas lull and benefit more in early 2017.
Remember, with streaming it's become almost impossible for songs to peak in its first week. Only the biggest names in pop now can debut at #1 in the charts which I quite like actually. It reminds me of the late 80s when the big artists from 1988/89 entered at #1 or #2 and everyone else climbed to their peak. |

In a Capital interview at V Festival LM said the lead single would be out in Oct.
https://www.facebook.com/CapitalFM/v...type=2&theater This doesnt give much time for the album to follow. I'm skeptical. They are confirmed performers for BBC R1 Teen Awards so there's a potential promo slot. |

I'm watching them on MTV at V Festival doing 'Salute'. |

I wonder if Little Mix will put their lead single on iTunes as a pre-order. Make an announcement on say a Wednesday that the single can be pre-ordered.
If the single can get quite high on iTunes as a pre-order (as was the norm back in 2012) then officially release the single on iTunes on the Friday two days later. That way they could help push the single up iTunes prior to its release, and then once released it'll possibly be already high up the rolling iTunes chart and more people will download the song. That way it doesn't risk losing sales. I wonder if this type of strategy would actually work now on iTunes. Maybe even have a first week 59p offer to download the song and then make it 79p for a few weeks before putting the price up to 99p once its had a few weeks in the chart. There must be tricks that can be used to help a new single (for anyone tbh) get off to a strong start on iTunes. Spotify will always be a tricky one to master. |

Unless sales are overwhelming they're better off strategizing how to get streams up nowadays. I'm not sure whether "October" meant first on sale or first radio play.

And that's because I think Spotify is an example of a complex system in which new data modelling techniques will reveal the patterns of usage through time...possibly! |

Whilst I am very excited for a new album by LM I just hope it isn't a little to soon after Get Weird. GW is still selling and imo the album still has two more singles to come from it. I know that LM and the management team want to cash in on the girls success and LM profile is at a all time high on just hope it isn't a rushed album to cash in as it may spoil LM recent huge success.

Shame they're going closer to Get Weird rather than Salute. Move is their only single I would call 'very good'.
I just think they should pursue a bit more of a mature sound. 'Get Weird' was candy floss for 12 year old girls. |

Interesting, neither of you have any idea about how to increase streams on Spotify outside of being a global superstar.

If anything Get Weird hit with the mature crowd and Salute was the one that appealed to the younger 15-21 year olds with its RnB leanings. I would guess LM means another crossover album when they reference Get Weird. |

No interest in what it might sound like though?
![]() Tbh, I like the fact that Little Mix over the years have used different styles in many of their songs. Wings, DNA, Move, Black Magic and Secret Love Song couldn't be more different but they're all very much Little Mix songs thanks to their excellent vocals that really sell the song. In fact, the only Little Mix single I didn't like was Word Up! because it was by far the laziest single the girls did, but then it was for Comic Relief so using charity as an excuse to flog a crap cover. |
