Has anyone else noticed that Live Performances of Shout out to my ex are different to each other? Some Performances the girls will sing the chorus live and some performances they don't. Does anyone know the reason why they change it please?

After being #5 in yesterday's sales flash, LM are now #2 behind Kate Bush.
Maxi @Model_Scout_ @vagabandaisovr @MintRoyale @LoveCulture Is Glory Days still this low today? We had to restock it so many times in HMV yesterday! 3 hours ago Neil Claxton @MintRoyale @Model_Scout_ @vagabandaisovr @LoveCulture It's jumped up to 2! And Kate Bush is slowing. Do you have Weeknd physical in HMV? Maxi @Model_Scout_ @MintRoyale @vagabandaisovr @LoveCulture Yes, it came in before lunch yesterday. Didn't seem to sell huge amounts though. Is it top 5 now? Neil Claxton @MintRoyale @Model_Scout_ @vagabandaisovr @LoveCulture No, I think it might get there though as less than 5k between 7 and 3. https://twitter.com/MintRoyale/statu...48040868577280 I thought the Weeknd was much bigger. Also its so tight below #3 at the moment but I'm sure LM's sales will pull away. They must still be selling 7k daily. The other albums' preorders frontloaded them yesterday but they must not be selling highly outside of that. The Weeknd's Amazon preorders come tomorrow but he's only #65 there. Maybe LM can remain at #1? |

If Glory Days only sells 50% of its first week sales, that's still 48k in week two which could be enough to keep Little Mix #1 for a second week.
However, I think data is missing for The Weeknd as I'm convinced STARBOY is going to rake in big album sales on streaming - and streaming data is always a day or two behind. I wouldn't be surprised if The Weeknd ended up #1 by Friday although whichever way, it'll be Little Mix and The Weeknd occupying the top 2. Kate Bush will probably be #3 depending on how well she started. I suspect her live album will sell similarly to Metellica last week and end up barely selling 2k a day by the end of this week. |

Is album streaming a big deal in the UK? In the US its anything goes and they even count YouTube song streaming to equivalent album sales. The US also doesnt downweight and average album track streams like the UK. The UK is much more restrictive. I wish BB was more like the OCC.

Mon. Update
Top 100 Singles 1 Clean Bandit feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie - Rockabye (31,607) 2 Rae Sremmurd feat. Gucci Mane - Black Beatles (24,345) 3 The Weeknd feat. Daft Punk - Starboy 4 Little Mix - Shout Out to My Ex 5 James Arthur - Say You Won't Let Go Top 100 Albums 1 Kate Bush - Before the Dawn (30,160) * 2 Little Mix - Glory Days (25,540) 3 Michael Ball & Alfie Boe - Together (23,123) 4 Elvis Presley - The Wonder of You (20,558) 5 The Weeknd - Starboy (17,146) * 18 Metallica 43 Get Weird (11 new entries ahead of it) Kate Bush was #1 the first day and LM #5 so I imagine its frontloaded fan sales that have kept her in place. Assuming they slow a little during the week they still seem headed to do over 50k. I'm eager to see how the album does that week before Xmas. |

Neil Claxton @MintRoyale
All this Theresa May business has knocked Kate Bush's album down to number 2 behind Little Mix. That'll teach her! LM were about 5k behind Bush yesterday so they sold enough to erase that gap plus overcome her sales. Also, they must be comfortably ahead of Ball and Boe since the latter arent in #2. |

Minty was making a joke, but I'm not from the UK so someone will have to explain it.
Tues. update Singles 1 Clean Bandit feat. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie - Rockabye (43.2k) 2 Rae Sremmurd feat. Gucci Mane - Black Beatles (32.4k) 3 The Weeknd feat. Daft Punk - Starboy (24.8k) 4 Little Mix - Shout Out to My Ex (22.7k) 5 James Arthur - Say You Won't Let Go (22.1k) Albums 1 Little Mix - Glory Days (34.2k) 2 Kate Bush - Before the Dawn (32.7k) * 3 Michael Ball & Alfie Boe - Together (31k) 4 Elvis Presley - The Wonder of You (27k) 5 Andre Rieu - Falling In Love (21k) * 7 The Weeknd - Starboy Wow at The Weeknd underperforming. Look at LM selling just under 9k! But I think the Black Friday discounts are now ended on Amazon. |

Kate Bush says Theresa May is "wonderful". Well, she's not Boris Johnson so at least Theresa has got that to her advantage. ![]() Yes, Glory Days was the biggest selling album yesterday whilst Kate Bush wasn't even in the top 10 most sold albums yesterday. So as I suggested in my post yesterday, Kate's album sales are just gong to continue decreasing each day. I'm intrigued to see how far Metallica have tanked. I will be very surprised if they're still top 40 - got a grilling for spilling the truth tea. Oops!!! ![]() Also I'm sure Little Mix will be appearing at the X Factor live final on the weekend of the 10th/11th December. So are they going to give their second single similar promotion to how they released SOTME? I.e. perform the second single live for the first time on X Factor and then release the music video and maybe a single version of the song to iTunes/Spotify. Maybe Little Mix could put in a last minute bid to be a Christmas #1 contender. Strike while the iron is hot.

Saw this over at BJ: "Kate Bush's album was only the 13th largest selling album yesterday. Interesting." Its definitely between LM and Ball & Boe this week.

As Get Wiered has sold 700,000 so far. I think Glory Days could sell 1,000,000 copies. It's their best album yet.

Little Mix haven't done any promo in America. I suspect when they go on tour with Ariana Grande, that could boost their album sales.
An album entering at #25 shouldn't be seen as the end of an era before it's even began. Glory Days will probably go on to achieve a new peak in the US Billboard album charts next year. |

As a fan I'm disappointed they havent held their US fans for sales (dont know if they are gone or just streamers now). Also from Oricon in Japan, #41, 1729 copies sold. I just made this elaborate post in the LM thread which you all may enjoy in the Spoiler. Its the hard sales from the US for Glory Days vs Get Weird. Last album they had all that promo for Black Magic, and they came over for a few days to LA where I saw them (!) for an album signing. This time around they arent even showing up until Dec. 15, and very confusingly their lead single hasnt been pushed much on radio even thought its managed to chart for 3 weeks on its own on the Hot 100. A lot of us figure that SOTMX took them by surprise because they have everything riding on the Ariana tour (a mistake in my eyes) and the promo stops they'll make during it with the big push for Touch (also a mistake to me but who am I to say).

What would be a better strategy for the US?
The Ariana Grande tour might deliver even though it is a support slot. So the single being promoted at the time of the tour might be successful and lift the album. But that single might be 'Touch'? And you don't think 'Touch' is the best single to break the US, neither do I. I like 'Power' as a musical statement, 'Nothing Else Matters' as an arena anthem, and 'No More Sad Songs' as a great pop song but I don't know which of these would appeal the most to the US audience? 'Glory Days' is a great pop record with a lot of great tunes and wit, maybe it is a little different from the current 'snowflake' generation music? |

And you don't think 'Touch' is the best single to break the US, neither do I. The problem I have is the same as ever. So far, I havent seen any hard evidence of Columbia following thru with pushing multiple songs in the US. For years its been 1 song and done. No act can advance like that unless its a lucky one hit wonder. They grew in the UK with repeated exposure, why would the US be different? SOTMX has been very passively floated to radio and as a result is only on a few stations' countdowns at night even after entering the Hot 100 3 times on streaming and sales. The other thing is LM's asset is themselves. They are one of the most likable acts around. People cant get to know and buy into them though if they arent present and from LM's schedule they are booking out after the tour and starting their world touring. Again, not repeated exposure. You know who's been smart? Little ol Niall Horan. He's been doing the rounds on radio visits and concerts and has kept his song on radio and charting at a nice mid level as people get to know him solo. Now there are signs Oops is set to be a single, and whatever some think about the song I just hope there is a plan for it in the US so multiple songs can be pushed. To my mind their team blew it with SOTMX already. I dont think overall there is a "problem" with LM music since their songs have been used in movies, trailers, talent shows and by NBC for the pre Olympics shows. They and their music just need more constant exposure. At the moment, and I would be really happy to be wrong, I see everything riding on the tour period and Touch. Thats too much risk exposure for me. Its a strategy that has proven to be a failure already in the past when its the only thing going with no follow thru. Per Buzzjack the album is on 49k today so they sold +7k. That should put them comfortably in the mid 50ks at the end. Only a few thousand less than Get Weird's debut and on par with DNA's opening on this the second week.

So basically in every major music market apart from the UK (France, Japan and USA) Glory Days has charted lower and had lower first week sales than Get Weird.. And in Germany the album has charted slightly higher but had lower first week sales. What exactly is their record company's strategy outside the UK? It doesn't seem to be working.

I instantly thought of Justin Bieber at his recent gigs, hardly bothering to mime along to his own playback vocals, storming off stage after ranting that his fans are screaming too loudly, onto to return to the stage to more screams and then slip back into half arsed miming. Also isn't that the reason why Robbie Williams failed to crack America. Robbie about 10-12 years ago said in an interview (with Smash Hits iirc) it was too much hard work to tour America and it seemed he was just happy to concentrate on the UK and Europe. Then again, his lack of success in America didn't hinder his success elsewhere. |

They seem more interested in getting the base established in mainland Europe this time around. They just performed in a big Spanish awards show and the album debuted the highest it ever has for them at #9 there. Comparing Get Weird v Glory Days ww debut sales its not off that much abroad? GW : 109k total ww 60k(57k) UK, 49k(52k) intl. *** http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums-week47-2015.htm GD : 135k total ww 91k UK, 44k intl. http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums-week48-2016.htm Difference of 8k sales between albums abroad. ***The 60k figure for GW wasnt broken into sales/streams so applying Glory Day's 5% streaming gives us 57k UK sales so possibly 52k intl sales for GW. One thing they are doing in European countries they have visited like Italy, France and Belgium is selling tour tickets. Even their promoter John Giddings (Isle of Wight) said in 2015: "They've sold more tickets than they've sold albums so far in Europe, which is unheard of for this kind of artist." Several of us have noted LM are acting more like a Rock act that tours and doesnt have huge radio play or charting rather than a typical Pop act. They just added another 10 shows to their domestic tour and already have 4 shows at the O2 11 months out. |
