You forgot Australia, both albums came in at #2 there.
They seem more interested in getting the base established in mainland Europe this time around. They just performed in a big Spanish awards show and the album debuted the highest it ever has for them at #9 there. Comparing Get Weird v Glory Days ww debut sales its not off that much abroad? GW : 109k total ww 60k(57k) UK, 49k(52k) intl. *** http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums-week47-2015.htm GD : 135k total ww 91k UK, 44k intl. http://www.mediatraffic.de/albums-week48-2016.htm Difference of 8k sales between albums abroad. ***The 60k figure for GW wasnt broken into sales/streams so applying Glory Day's 5% streaming gives us 57k UK sales so possibly 52k intl sales for GW. One thing they are doing in European countries they have visited like Italy, France and Belgium is selling tour tickets. Even their promoter John Giddings (Isle of Wight) said in 2015: "They've sold more tickets than they've sold albums so far in Europe, which is unheard of for this kind of artist." Several of us have noted LM are acting more like a Rock act that tours and doesnt have huge radio play or charting rather than a typical Pop act. They just added another 10 shows to their domestic tour and already have 4 shows at the O2 11 months out. As for John Giddings, I would take anything he says lightly unless he has numbers to back up his claims. It's his job to give a positive spin. Has anybody independent commented on LM's impressive touring figures outside of UK and they are acting like a rock act? I am surprised the new album has charted as low as #25 in the USA considering it was preceeded by LM's highest single. It's very stupid that their label and management are relying on a tour slot to reverse things. |

The last eight albums to top the chart reigned for only a week, but Little Mix break the streak, spending a second straight frame at the summit with their fourth album, Glory Days.

I can see Glory Days continuing sell impressively leading up to Christmas. Possibly even getting over 100k in the week leading up to Christmas as I can see many parents buying the album for their kids.
I've not really followed the Little Mix discussion thread in the X Factor forum as its too cluttered to get to the point. Is there news on the second single? I'm guessing they will be performing on the X Factor final, but will that be one of the celebrity duets or the first live TV performance of the next single? Maybe both?

Maybe both? ![]() Little Mix @LittleMix 45m This year's been so amazing 😍🎉 No way we could end 2016 without giving you a new single 🙅 😉Just a #Touch of something new .. 💚 the girls x https://twitter.com/LittleMix/status/805517536125022208 Its well timed for a MV on Friday and a Sunday XF Final performance (although they'll probably be hobbled dueting on the Saturday). It would be a nice touch for them to be guest stars on the same stage they won on exactly 5 years ago to the day. On Sunday. Leigh and Jade were partying with Parris Goebel the choreographer for the Touch MV...I say she's here to rehearse a big spectacular debut with the girls and dancers. |

Australia and Spain are not major music markets. You can have a gold album in Australia with sales of 35,000 and Spain with 20,000.
Sidenote on Australia: SOTMX just hit Platinum there. For myself I dont mix up charting and sales over the long haul, because often the two dont correlate. Fast high charters can plummet like a rock, and slow burners can rack up big sales over time. Secret Love Song peaked at #6 in the UK and is LM's second Platinum single. Quote:

It would be a nice touch...
![]() Touch is definitely the best choice for single #2. It stood out on my very first listen of the song which is always a good sign, similar to how Secret Love Song stood out when I heard that song for the first time. As for X Factor, if Little Mix are going to be performing Touch then maybe Little Mix could be one of this years Christmas #1 contenders as I reckon the track will climb up Spotify fairly quickly once the radio/video airplay kicks in. Even if not, Touch could still be in a strong position to possibly be the first #1 of 2017 once all the Christmas songs have plummeted down iTunes and Spotify. |

Supposedly the XF winner's single was penned by Ed Sheeran, wouldnt that be #1?

Viewing figures are still hideous compared to most other shows broadcast on rival channels on both Saturday and Sunday nights. So I really don't know if this years winner really does stand a chance of getting to #1. Little Mix went to #1 on just 4 days and 5 hours of sales but SOTME is a pop anthem and it just clicked from the word "go". An Ed Sheeran ballad may not be what people want to listen to in the run up to Christmas. However, I reckon if Saara won this years X Factor and her winner's single was produced in the style of a HI NRG disco row of pink tents, I bet it would sell more than a dreary ballad arrangement like Forever Youzzzzz last year. Christmas is party season, not depressing season. Why SYCO seem to struggle with this concept is truly baffling. :/ As for the midweeks, I think Little Mix will get #3 by the end of the week but I also suspect Rolling Stones are heavily frontloaded and will barely sell 30k for the rest of the week. I will be surprised if Rolling Stones sells more than the 96k Little Mix achieved a fortnight ago. |

I know, I'm hoping LM can retain that second fastest selling album bit on their resume.
All signs point to another midweek performance on Sunday, could they pull another surprise #1? Since its already out on the album maybe not, but there's plenty of casual listeners out there. I think the Saara curiosity if she is in the last day of the Final may pull in more viewers and more audience for LM. |

SHOCKER
After months of nothing, Columbia set an impact date of Jan. 17 for SOTMX in the US. It wont be Touch after all. http://clients.allaccess.com/mail/C/...lumbia196.html Personally I'm relieved. I didnt think Touch would do well in the US and have always felt SOTMX had a sound the US was more familiar with, like Salute. |

So 2017 will be a serious attempt at the US? You don't think 'Touch' will be the follow up to SOTMX in the US as it will be here? The video for SOMTX looks so American anyway.
I think the other high impact song on the album is 'Power', would Columbia be prepared to go for that? I suppose it's what sounds like a radio hit is what they'll go for. And the album is full of potential hits. Oops will be a single both sides of the Atlantic, I suspect. As I have said elsewhere there is a whole another (better) album if the tracks from Down and Dirty to Freak (deluxe version) had been used as the album. |

Rolling Stones on track to break 100k. LM narrowing the gap with Elvis to 300.
1 Rolling Stones - Blue and Lonesome (75.3k) * 2 Michael Ball & Alfie Boe - Together (38.0k) 3 Elvis Presley - The Wonder of You (31.2k) 4 Little Mix - Glory Days (30.9k) 5 Olly Murs - 24 HRS (22.6k) An associate of a Touch songwriter confirmed a performance this Sunday. John Saunderson @Johnsaunderson1 Good luck to Little Mix and NHM's Patrick Patrikios new single 'Touch'. Being performed on X Factor final too. Well done son. Well Proud https://twitter.com/Johnsaunderson1/...41240834813952 Per update accounts he works at Notting Hill Music. |

Little Mix @LittleMix
This is gonna be soooooo EPIC! 🙊🙌 We’re performing #Touch and #Oops LIVE 📹 with @charlieputh THIS SUNDAY on @TheXFactor 💃 the girls x Here come the next singles! I guess they have to maximize this tv slot because they'll be going off to the US end of Jan. Will they do 2 full songs since they're flying Puth over? |

The team behind Little Mix continue to get it spot on. Makes me wonder whether we'll see Touch and Oops both doing well in the charts at the same time, kinda like how Justin Bieber had Sorry and Love Yourself both riding high around the same time.

The team in the UK. Columbia is completely opposite! Btw SOTMX got 5 adds on Us radio yesterday a month ahead of impact. Maybe the song just got good responses during trials?

The cynical side of me thinks that Columbia probably don't think SOTMX's 'Zayn shade' appeal would be a bad thing, especially with the now added media attention that Gigi's celebrity has brought to the table.
Personally, I am baffled by the continued practice of releasing regional singles. Surely in today's internet age all singles released by an artist ought to be de facto worldwide? I dont think, or at least the runup didnt suggest a regional single for the US, but I think the label is running with the strong metrics it got early. Plus I assume they are privy to some response info that we arent and its positive enough to go with this song first. If it just gets even a little ahead of previous efforts its still progress and could be a better launch for a follow up, if they finally execute this time. I'm just worried they're only depending on the tour window period. At the time I questioned why it was placed on Hot Tracks the week before the album when it could have generated some chart points, but in my fantasy maybe the label was experimenting with how the song would respond to some stimulus like that. They didnt even have it on the front page and it shot up 30 places. Their team has never tried the discount tactic but they tested that in Germany and it shot the song up for a while too. |
