The only similarities between Ugly Heart and Shout Out To My Ex are mainly the instrumentals of both choruses. The melodies of both songs are totally different with Little Mix having by far the better chorus. The chorus to Ugly Heart is so limp and pedestrian whilst the chorus to SOTME is a bonafide glorified pop chorus.

The similarities stop there. I find it astonishing that Ugly Heart has returned to the top 50 on iTunes. Istm, people are reading far too much into this, and are desperately picking at things that aren't even there to begin with.

Still, all publicity is good publicity so if this helps the song continue selling then so be it. Also, SOTME would be the first UK #1 since Adele's Hello that I've genuinely liked. I can't believe we've had almost 12 months of borderline average (or worse) #1 singles in the UK. Mike Posner's #1 single has been my favourite UK chart topper in that time but it's still not been an absolute fave of mine.

A clip of the video was shown on The One Show. Perrie's middle 8 sounds really Country/American folk to me. I wanted to do a hoedown during the chorus.

I know its sort of looked down upon in the UK, but Country is very kind to harmonizing so I dont mind the influence at all.

That clip of the music video is very glossy to accompany the very glossy #1 this Friday!!!

As for the country sound, I get where you're coming from. It's very subtle though and still sounds on the surface as a solid gold pop song.

I think I mentioned the Dixie Chicks and SOTME first. I think SOTME would easily convert to a Country Rock song, it's very jaunty, maybe the choreography should be a line dance? And maybe LM should collaborate with Carrie Underwood or Lady Antebellum on the next record?

Supposedly a major radio station in Nashville just played it. Someone tweeted herself grooving along to it on the radio.

@MintRoyale 32m
Little Mix have only gone and done it, they're just 630 copies ahead of James Arthur but are selling quicker so will stay there for no. 1.

@MintRoyale 30m30 minutes ago
Will be interesting to see if it beats Black Magic's first week now.

@MintRoyale 24m
@unitedmixer89 Quite a way but streaming is really picking up now. I think they'll get to 100k, maybe 113k is a bit too far.

@MintRoyale 25m
@unitedmixer89 If they'd released on Friday, it would have definitely beaten Black Magic, maybe even already.

All thats left to answer is "how much" ahead they'll be tomorrow. I'll be curious to see how much they would have racked up under the old Sunday-Saturday system. I bet it would have been at least 120k. If they pulled up to him today, that meant they were selling around 17k yesterday.

I take it that means SOTME will be no 1 single tomorrow?
I got tickets today for next years gig!

It's pretty much guaranteed now.

Little Mix got 506k streams yesterday which is the equivalent of 5,060 chart sales which are combined with the 12k they sold on iTunes making a total of 17k.

It's touch n' go whether SOTME can scrape past 100k but it's going to be close to that figure by the end of tonight.

Incredible when I consider how slow the charts have become in these last 10 months.

The last time a song got released mid-week and still made it to #1 was We Found Love in 2011. Released on a Wednesday and sold enough in 4 days to enter at #1.

Iirc, Eminem's single The Monster was only available from the Monday as it was released alongside the album pre-order but that was still 6 days of sales.

Little Mix have achieved all this with just 4 days and 5 hours (Sunday night ) on sale/streaming.

So, could SOTME spend longer at #1 than Black Magic? It's looking promising at the moment.

I've been trying to figure out the streaming points. Last week, JA had 54k of them. At one point last week he was streaming 550k daily on Spotify. However that 7x only comes out to 38,500 points. Where did the other 16,000 come from, the other services? Are we not figuring those into LM?

They are still at this hour outselling him 2.5x on iTunes and they are ahead of him on Amazon downloads.

I've only ever gone off iTunes and Spotify as they make up the bulk of download sales and streaming, but you are right about the overall weekly total.

That 16k of streaming sales for James Arthur last week would've come from other streaming services - namely Apple Music as I'd guess that's the second largest streaming service.

Plus, with their massive lead on iTunes going into the new sales tracking week Little Mix may even increase their weekly sales tally next week. They will have a full 7 days of downloads/streaming. They'll be going into Friday selling 2.5x of James Arthur, and they're almost #1 on Spotify. All this plus their #1 on Apple Music does indicate a fantastic second week of sales.

They've got the music video released tomorrow. Stand Up To Cancer on Sunday. These will surely boost the songs profile and may help increase their sales/streaming.

They have the Teen Awards this weekend too!

Yeah I was wondering if they could break 100k next week with the full 7 days, considering they are basically on par with JA on streaming and he got the 54k streaming last week, couldnt they get 48-50k next week? Combined with their sales even if they slow that still sounds close to 100k to me. They would just need to sell 7k each day and right now they are still selling 13k I think.

Already clocking over 1 million views in 10 hours.

Spotify hasn't updated its daily chart yet so don't know if Little Mix have taken the #1 spot or not.

Also Stand Up For Cancer is tonight, not Sunday. My bad!!!

I'm glad that they've done a great video as I always thought Secret Love Song was too a good a song to end up with the video it got. SOTME is hitting hard and it's up there with songs like Push The Button, About You Now, Pure Shores and yes, Black Magic as some of the best lead singles from girl groups launching their new album campaign.

Glory Days is released the same day as Bruno Mars' album 24K Magic and considering how lukewarm a reception Bruno's song has received, and the ongoing slayage of Little Mix off the back of Get Weird, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Glory Days gets to #1 in its week of release.

The video has 2.1 milion views already in 17 hours. Hair was their previous fastest with 1.55 million in 24 hours so this one has already shattered that.

Annoyingly JA is still leading Spotify, but nominally.

I liked those unscripted moments with Leigh tossing the food at Perrie and Leigh crashing into the trailer. The UK's Lucille Ball.

Maybe that's why the teaser clip scenes ended up on the editing room floor? None of them were in the final.

Yes girls. Congratulations!

Previously No.1 with debut single Cannonball (2011), follow-up Wings (2012) and Black Magic (2015), Little Mix score their fourth chart-topper with Shout Out To My Ex storming to the chart apex on sales of 95,273 copies (including 28,360 from streams), despite being on sale for less than five days.

It is only the third song thus far in 2016 to debut at No.1 emulating Major Lazer's Cold Water (feat. Justin Bieber & MØ) which did so in August, and Zayn Malik's debut solo hit Pillowtalk, which did so in February. Malik is allegedly the person being dissed in Shout Out To My Ex.

Their 17th hit in all and their ninth to make the Top 10, it is taken from Little Mix's upcoming fourth album Glory Days, and is the 42nd No.1 by an act or collection of acts to come to fame on The X Factor. The competition's 2011 winners, Little Mix dethrone 2012 winner James Arthur, whose Say You Won't Let Go ends a three week residency at No.1 by falling to No.2 - albeit on sales of 92,068 copies, the highest for a runner-up for 10 weeks.

Shout Out To My Ex is the ninth new No.1 to have emerged thus far in 2016 - the lowest number at this stage of any year since charts were introduced more than 60 years ago.

1 Little Mix 95,273 66,913 28,360
2 James Arthur 92,068
3 The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey 61,186
4 The Weeknd feat. Daft Punk 58,879
5 Hailee Steinfeld & Grey feat. Zedd 44,705
6 Sia feat. Kendrick Lamar 40,899
7 Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj 39,799
8 Calvin Harris 39,397
9 DJ Snake feat. Justin Bieber
10 Bruno Mars 36,721

G'won Little Mix!!!

I actually thought Little Mix were looking set for a bigger lead over James Arthur so surprised to see his single selling 92k this week.

Phenomenal result to achieve #1 in just over 4 days at a time when most singles really struggle to take off upon release. I just think SOTME has really connected with their fans and the public in general and that's why Little Mix have once again stormed it.

I heard the radio edit playing on the Official Chart show and they cut out the part I love which is right before Perrie's solo part (which part also reminds me of Fun.'s Some Nights, a big rock/country sound IMO).

The good news keeps rolling in, I wonder how their album will do now.

In addition, Little Mix's The Glory Days 2017 Tour went on sale today. Incredibly the girls have sold over 200,000 tickets in less that 10 hours, one year in advance! Six new Arena shows were added to the tour this afternoon, including two extra London O2 Arena dates. - Simon Jones PR

Remember the days when the tour was to sell the album? These days its the album selling the tour.

Little Mix will continue to smash as long as they keep on this trend. They've got a loyal and dedicated following which I spoke about when Black Magic was doing well. They appeal to young kids, teenagers, parents, grandparents and everyone in between!!!

They put on a massive show, they are incredible singers and they have great songs to back it all up. It's a recipe for $ucc£$$!!!

Your album tour comment is spot on. We now have a generation of music lovers who will only buy into something because they're familiar with it. So in the case of Little Mix, their 2017 tour will sell quickly because the fans already know the number of great songs that will be performed.

When you think back to last year, Black Magic was only a taster of the whole Get Weird album as they had different styles in different tracks. I suspect the same will apply with Glory Days.
