I guess that's true but I must be weird in that when I have an issue with a product bought at a supermarket for example, I complain to the brand first to let them know about the issue with their products and see what they suggest, unless it is an own store brand product of course.
Just last week I bought a bottle of Volvic which tasted off and made me sick and so I complained to Volvic and they apologised and said they are investigating and gave me a crap ton of vouchers off Volvic products, which I probably won't use due to the incident but they gave great service and my issue was resolved. Didn't feel the need to complain to the supermarket about it. Likewise I have bought faulty DVDs before and complained to Unversal/Warner Bros/Disney etc and they have always sent me a replacement disc themselves without me having to return the product to the store.
And as this usually works out well I'd recommend everyone try this.
