That's true, but the door's been left open for him, his character's not been killed off, so chance is he may come back eventually.

I think it should be good for Ryan in terms of storylines. I don't think they'll want to get rid of an important legacy character like Robert any time soon unless Ryan chooses to go.

Looking back at the storylines in the last couple of years- It was inevitable Robert was redeemed. Ryan and Danny want to stay and they play popular characters. Kelvin sort of had his foot out the door. You do need some core characters in any soap.

I have a feeling that Bernice will also be Roberts Ali in this. We know that Lawrence signs the salon back to her ( he probably thinks they can get back together now Andy has gone and no risk) or she try's to get back in with him playing like she knows nothing and will help Robert by maybe snooping/getting close to Chrissie and in the meanwhile taking Lawrence for every penny!

Agree on all points - Robert is the last original Sugden left - apart from Annie who is supposedly still alive and living in Spain (now there's a coincidence) and must be at least a 100 now!

I bet Chrissie starts to get close to Vic, esp when you look at the scenes tonight.

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been a little quiet lately. Don't have much to add but just wanted to say what a fantastic episode it was tonight. I really enjoyed it and got quite teary eyed during Robert and Andy's farewell scene. I've not watched ED for that many years so I wasn't particularly attached to the character but think I might miss him. I absolutely loved that 'farewell to Andy video' - it was hilarious! I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes this week.

Just checked and Annie was born in July 1920 and the actress who played her - Sheila Mercier is still alive at 97 yrs old.

Great episode and I loved all the Andy/Rob and Robron bits.. but highlight for me was when Bernice thought they were going to Santander "to get some cash out". Brilliant.

Re-watched the farewell scenes.They were so good and very powerful.It will take a bit of getting used to for me,Andy not being there.Emmerdale won't be the same without him for me,after twenty years of him being in the village lol.I don't like when such long standing characters leave He was kind of the last of the 'oldies' and he kind of represented ED
