Other soaps manage to write their male couples being intimate with each other fine, especially Hollyoaks, Emmerdale starting to stand out in comparison and it's a bit worrying.

see Danny tweeted he's going to awards show on Monday night, is that televised there?

OMG give me this

And I know a lot of people that are gays or lesbian in my life. And it's true that it's not everybodys cup of tea to go to gay bars when they get out. As a matter of fact they love staying at home and doing their stuff or watching a movie or go to a restaurant than going to a Gay bar.

i'm not worried (yet) lolz... ED might not have shown these intimate moments but they have been heavily alluded to in the "charity catching them at it in the shower" episode, and in the "get stuck in" episode...

sure ED is in the "tell, not show" mode atm ...but which male gay couple in other soaps really hold a candle to robron atm?

It's the tv choice awards, which aren't on tv sadly.

We usually get to see pics though, don't we? I remember he came back for a few days from Lanzarote last year to attend and went back afterwards.

Hopefully we'll get some red carpet pics of Danny & Ryan (if he's going) and maybe red carpet interviews we usually get pics and clips from the soap journo's don't we?

I think last year the EM twitter covered the event well with lots of pics and clips and stuff and usually theres lots of pics coming through on twitter. I think a few video interviews went out afterwards.

Different channels, different soaps.

Do you pay attention to how ED treats the straight couples too? If you did you'd know they're not any better treated really unless plot requires it.

ED is on the ad revenue reliant ITV. EE and HO are on the BBC (license funded) and C4(subsidy) channels so they have to show less bias and more of a range. HO is also aimed at younger viewers who are generally more tolerant and less bigoted.

ITV can do what they want hence why they've never had a gay drama on their channel. C4 did Queer as folk in the 90's, ITV to this day would not show that....

I'm used to Robron being pretty pg rated. It's always going to be like that.

Doesn't help that Danny and Ryan look pretty uncomfortable when they kiss(at least on their last kiss).

suppose everyone sees it different but actually I think they look pretty comfortable when Aaron and Robert kiss as Danny and Ryan are both very professional actors and they also get on very well personally

Coronation Street is also on ITV. It's our oldest soap and they're doing great with Todd and Billy and their intimate scenes. I'm not having a go, I like Robron a lot, but there is definitely an issue here.

Yes, i do think that Robron are the least sexualised gay couple in soap at the moment. I'm not sure what's happened given that during the affair that it wasn't just the most passionate/racy gay pairing in soap but any pairing full stop. It's certainly gone down hill and whilst there are several factors that play into why, i don't think they calculate to being the whole answer to the problem. You have a show that was quite willing to give them passionate scenes at one point, actors that were perfectly good at delivering them scenes at one point...yet we have the current situation where both things are suddenly off and i don't really know why.

so, what? is it time to look elsewhere?

is it time to give up waiting for robron to win that best partnership coz they're failing to deliver in this aspect?

I don't think so as i don't think anyone with that POV is saying at the same time it means they don't enjoy watching them anymore, i think it's more just an observation/seeing a failing and fans i guess always wanting more.

I do think so on this point. I think if they never won (or got nommed) during the affair and then during the abuse story then they won't as things currently stand, there is no reason for them to be nommed or win on the strength of the current scenes, but hopefully there will be a time in the future.

good.

that's good to hear... fans just want more, that little bit extra

that's what i was saying earlier... overall and in comparison with other male gay couples, robron are head and shoulders above them, they can't hold a candle to this pairing... and that's thanks to dryan chemistry-- and also ED's unrelenting resolve to give them a backstory of turmoil last year (risking alienating some fans) that ultimately made the pairing stronger when they reunited this year...

So you're discounting all their kisses so you can make a comment on their last one? Their last one wasn't awkward their lips missed and I can tell you IT happens in real life.

This is for plot purpose though. Did Sean and Billy act the same as Todd and Billy? Nope. Why not? Oh yeah plot didn't dictate it.

I noticed you both ducked my comment on the straight couples though .

ohh... i might need to vote twice then to cover yours...

they were never going to win for the affair as ED made robert's feelings very ambiguous then

they were never going to win during the abuse coz those who already hated robert (see above) didn't like the idea of an abuse SL concocted to redeem him (their POV, not mine )

but yeah, hopefully.... fingers crossed for future SLs going forward
