Not yet. I am greviously behind this week. Still fighting last week's cold and not making near the headway I need to. Having said that, based on the chutney outcome, I think substituting pears for plums is going to work out fine.

We've been enjoying last's years plum sauce as a dip with courgette fritters
Anything spicy is usually good for colds

Today was a productive day in the Using Pears Department. I made Carrot Cake Conserve and I finally made the Chinese Not Plum Sauce.

I converted the recipe to American, and then tripled the quantity, which was exactly the amount of pears in my Use or Lose bag. The sauce itself is an interesting blend of flavours: spicey with a residual heat, tangy without being over sour. Mr Maggie said he could taste pear, but I couldn't.

We eat a lot of pot stickers and steamed dumplings, so I think this one is going to be a keeper.

That's good to know. I might give it a go myself. I may get enough plums off my trees, but they are poor this year, as so often happens after a good year.
