Used iPad 3?
Hi folks. I bought an iPad (3rd gen) back in 2012 and I have to say that it has served me well despite being just the 16gb non-3g model. In all honesty, I am that happy with it that I would sooner try to find a 32gb 3g enabled used second hand iPad 3 for sale online in way of an upgrade rather than spend a few hundred pounds on the latest generation of iPad. I'm quite happy with the iPad 3 and I a not the type of person who craves the latest models and gadgets. Has anybody any experience of purchasing a second hand iPad on eBay or Gumtree? Any pitfalls I should be aware of? Also, assuming that the contract of any used 3g enabled iPad I purchase would have expired, would it be possible to set up my own contract or use a pay as you go sim? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to get one for about £180, if you sell your old one, you will get most of that back.
As always, buy from a seller with long established, good feedback. A returns policy is a good idea. You shouldn't have a problem putting your own SIM in it. |

Although I'm sure it will continue to work fine on iOS 9 the iPad 3 is not compatible with the upcoming iOS 10.
Early reporting on iOS 10 stated that it would be compatible but Apple have since confirmed that it won't be (iPad 4 onwards and iPad Mini 2 onwards are the compatible models). Might be worth considering

Hmmm. Good point to consider. Thanks for making it. I guess most apps will continue to support iOS9 for a few years yet at least?
But once iOS 10 launches I'd expect the iPad 3's lack of compatibility to be reflected in its selling price

I'd imagine so, I'm sure it will be ok for a while yet!

Don't rule out the official Apple Store Refurb route as an option. You may end up paying a bit more but the service and support is excellent... or, at least, it has been for me in the past.

On eBay search under 'new other' usually get decent items such as warranty replacements from insurance companies etc or unwanted presents vs 'used' which could have all kinds of filth on it!
I'd wai till sep 7th as if there's a new ipad released, prices of preceding models will drop (30-£50 ish) I'm hopingo pick p am ipad air 2 as my ipad 2 is slow Also the apple refurbished store is good - 10-20% off and they come with 1 year warranty and are in new comditon |
