I think it's a shame ppl are saying she shouldn't have bothered just cos she doesn't have the others and will not get a number 1.

This is probably the dream for these kind of artists to have an opportunity of having your own peice of work out there, just because she's not going to win a brit award doesn't make any less of a valid experience for her

I'd disagree slightly. Vanessa was relegated to second and sometimes third in command from On Your Radar onwards. Rochelle was a much more consistent and equally strong vocalist and she's likely to only ever perform again if there is a Sats reunion.

Vanessa was the most unpopular member in terms of label appeal. She always was the one with less Twitter followers, Facebook likes etc. and her solo music was very rushed. Equally, she has been slightly negative about the group since the hiatus so I'd imagine she will struggle to reach the larger portion of their remaining fanbase. Also, she likely wanted the small indie label so that she could be more creative with her style and music.

Mollie in that sense, is more of the package popstar and likely to succeed. Rochelle is not interested in music, Una is back to her roots, Frankie doesn't have the confidence to perform as a solo musician.

Vanessa released an EP earlier this year. It's more nu-R&B than pure pop but it's pretty good. I think she's suited to that style of music. As for Mollie's song, it's rather boring and nothing really special.

Having the strongest voice doesn't always mean you have the most star power and best chance of being the big solo artist from the group.

^^
That is true, but in regards to The Sats I would use Frankie as the example of that. I mean if any of the members were to have a successful solo career, she's the one you'd think would get the most label backing as she's the one the tabloids were most interested in. In S Club 7 that girl was Rachel Stevens, Cheryl for Girls Aloud, etc. None of these girls came close to having the best vocals in their group but they all had the biggest star power.
I just find Molly to be a very random choice to be getting the big record label backing as she was always the least popular, most generic member of the group with being the token blonde. The only thing she has been known for outside of the group was being David Gandy's girlfriend for a while.

I see your point. Mollie does have weak vocals and she needed to release a very strong track to make up for it. I'm not sure if 'Back to you' is strong enough to make the top 10.

I think a solo career for Frankie would take up too much of her time and away from her kids, so TV would probably fit around her life more than music would

This is just so limp. Listened three times now and still not been able to find a hook.

It sounds like bargin basement Rita Ora who herself is bargin bassement Rhianna. Just dreadful, and it's not like I don't enjoy dance music it's just that Mollie has no personality from what I've seen and neither does this tuneless dirge.

The video is very generic as well.

This is just yet another singer who has next to no ability and is getting by on her looks alone.

I just listened to it again and it's alright but I think it's more of an album track than a debut single. It seems to be missing something.

A couple of weeks ago, Dan Wootton said that Una is working on some music, and for her career is even reverting to her maiden name Una Healy.

#53 in the official midweek charts. I don't thinks it's too early to label this a flop.

Streaming and lack of radio play has let her down thus far.

She has a radio tour coming up though so fingers crossed it's a slow burner and gets a new peak in weeks to come.

We still have TV promo to come as well.

Yes it's a bit early I'd say

Listened to the song twice and still think the song is ok, but nothing more. You never know, her album might be better. I'd rather hear new music from The Saturdays to be honest, but that won't happen

More the boring song, Bland personality and lack of interest in her i'd say

So the song's official debut is #90. That's quite a drop from the midweek position.

Number 90 on the UK Charts. (38 on sales only chart)

Not seen the video on any of the music channels

Another reason that including streaming is bad for the UK charts. It sounds like the song would have done much better on the old style charts. The sooner streaming is taken out of the charts, the better IMO. It doesn't do any good.

I don't understand why streaming is blamed when a song doesn't reach top 10 Streaming did Drake and Justin Bieber the world of good. I don't buy the streaming is to blame, if an artist doesn't get a top 10. I do think the song just wasn't strong enough for a debut single, especially from a female artist breaking away from a girl band. Cheryl and Geri don't have strong voices, but they released strong, catchy debut solo songs.

People only blame streaming when it affects their faves, ignoring the fact it is how a large amount of the population now consume music. Even #38 on sales is a flop. Mollie needed a much stronger song for her debut. It's not like the Saturdays were on a high when they decided to "rest". She just doesn't have the vocal chops for a ballad and needs production heavy music to mask the shortcomings in her voice.

If you like Mollie as much as I do then you'll love this...

Whatever label exec thought Mollie could have a successful solo career was deluded.
Singing isn't her calling....I always remember her cringe X Factor audition.
Maybe she could take up acting?
