Aubrey & James more interesting
Lee_Bo

That little segment was more interesting, to me, than anything Boar has done in the whole series.

What we saw was a reversal of both their characters, the cocksure and verbose Whale had absolutely nothing in response for the fiery earful he received from the usually (outwardly) demure Aubrey.

He was bright red and nodding like a fool as she articulately and skillfully put him in his place. She completely showed him up and he had no rebuttal.

Boar's contribution to the show was pouring oil all over the garden. Who's a good boy? Bear's a good boy, well done little man!

Shouldn't you be thanking Bear for the Aubrey/James exchange? He's the one who fired her up during nominations.

Really? You don't think she was fired up anyway?

What annoyed me was that she asked James for an explanation but really didn't want one as she spoke over his every attempt to give one, walking off in a 'can't be arsed' kind of way.

It could be interesting how this plays out. They aren't friends, they are just in a group of allies who aren't even loyal to each other, purely because of the other group's existence. She obviously doesn't like him from her rant in the DR, so why would she be surprised that he doesn't like her much (having both faked a passing friendship and spent time together).

She probably doesn't see the hypocrisy in that

I saw it differently. She was giving James an explanation as to why she was so upset. From what we have seen, Aubrey has been friendly with James and often takes time to chat with him ( and I imagine he is quite boring), more so than other HMs. James hasn't made any strong links and hovers on the outside of groups. Aubrey sees this and has made an effort. She knows how frustrated James is with Bear and his squad, so she believed him in be in alliance with the rest of them. When Aubrey suggested taking out Bear's supporters, James did not disagree. I can understand why Aubrey feels stabbed in the back - even Bear can see it. James was very embarrassed and tried to butt in to stop her explaining, but she was articulate and assertive, so he was the one that walked away.
I don't think Aubrey likes James or has anything in common with him, but was trying to be pleasant with him - which makes him choosing her over people who have been awful sting more.
This has shown us how much he wants to win, despite saying he wants to go.

I agree, Aubrey did show him up. His reason for nominating was so arrogant and I don't believe it for a second. Does he really think you can not learn anything from someone who is younger than you? Aubrey has given a lot of intelligent advise and handled people well, so what has age got to do with it. He has survived against the Squad, so I think he was hoping to take some of the others out, in the hope that if he faced the Squad in the final, he would win. He clearly believes he won the public vote because he is popular, whereas, it was a vote against the Squad that saved him. James is very disappointing, but Aubrey just gets better and better. I would like her in the final three.

To my understanding JW has made a career out of being an opinionated talk show host, quite happy to shut down people who don't agree with him. For Aubrey to have enough about her to turn him into a simpering schoolboy says a lot. She did herself justice in that 'exchange' (mostly a one way street) and he had no comeback because she was right.

Like you said she made an effort with the quiet, grumpy old man in the corner and it bought her no loyalty. What I liked about it is that it was real, she was genuinely annoyed and spoke up.

Sincerity goes a long way with this viewer so she's definitely in the top 3 for me too.

I think we'd all be mortified if we knew everything we'd unknowingly consumed over the years and we're all still here. The person in question doesn't qualify as a normal human being worthy of respect because he doesn't respect anyone else. I'd be fine with Colin taking a crap in Boar's cornflakes at this point

I agree OP. If Aubrey is a bossy Mae giving advice James and treating him like a doddering old fool who needs to be told what to do all the time, I would like to see it. He clearly feels that he is and we are not allowed to make up our minds whether he is nominating her fairly or not. Too busy being bored rigid by two buffoons throwing food and being told off by bb while pretending to be contrite. It's the same every night and its boring. Let us see something else. Let us have a bit of context. Right now we are just looking at a lot of disjointed shots of the same thing. No idea whats going on other than these two fools making a mess and shouting. The only time we see anybody else is if they are arguing with bear.

Oh I agree with you that he wants to win, I've thought that from the time he quickly tried to get Biggins to nominate him - he was the first person to pounce on him after the task was announced.

I also agree that James did not disagree with taking out Bear's supporters - but he also didn't agree He seems to find some mild amusement in Bear's antics at times, judging by the smiles on his face.

I also agree that Aubrey's articulate and assertive - I like her a lot.

Damn doorbell's gone and I have to go so can't finish this post

For that act alone, she should win.

Despite bringing it up sometimes, I think Bear isn't bothered and has taken quite a shine to Aubrey. She is definitely the girl he would have liked to get - not that he'd stand a chance.

I'll wait with baited breath.
James hasn't seemed to do much agreeing or disagreeing. I remember disliking him immensely during his talk show heyday, so was at least expecting opinion from him - he has been the most disappointing HM, for me.
