Take the 16GB now, you'll be worse off with the new plans

Remember the 16GB plan is sim only - the new tariffs are only with handsets (24 months). Totally different.

Jon's second page says 12month SIM only pricing, which is a bit different to previous:
https://jmcomms.com/2016/08/10/revea...sign-up-quick/

(In my view, this is a backwards step).

They're already up http://shop.ee.co.uk/price-plans/paymonthly

But the changes are for handsets, not sim only

Doesn't look like it.

Why a disappointment? The current SIMO plans are much better value than the new handset plans

The 16GB sim only plan isn't showing anymore, not even at the full price...

they aren't any better than the vodafoen contract I already have, and do not include EU roaming data which is quite important for me.

I was looking to switch over to EE simply based on signal and wifi calling, and I was willing to pay over what I have with Vodafone.

I saw that earlier this morning; maybe this will signal the end of high data allowance plans on SIM Only... Hope not though as it is usually better for me to buy the phone outright and go SIMO!

Bit cheeky that the basic plans are up to 20Mbps 4G... 20Mbps is achievable on most decent (i.e. not congested with good backhaul) 3G masts!
So 4G plans capped at 3G speeds....

Hopefully, once my 16GB plan comes to an end (its a 12 month contract), EE will be able to make me a decent offer on another high data plan with unlimited speed. Because, if this weird "pay for speed" thing comes to SIM Only, and I can't get as good a deal, I'll be off to H3G UK....

Thanks to people for the heads up on the 16GB offer coming to an end yesterday. I upgraded 3 of my family's phones including my own last night.

You know it doesn't actually end after 12 months? It just reaches the end of minimum term and becomes a 30 day plan.

Had been advised by EE that the price reverts to the higher price on month 13

HUACA and you'll get a different answer.

I am currently on a nice deal, one advisor told me it would all end after 12 months, another assured me all my discounts and extra data would remain till I change it. Just need to wait till Dec to see who is right.

That still wouldn't mean the 16GB plan has ended, just that it's gone up for you

There must be many variations of the discount, I've been told twice my discount is ongoing as long as I keep the plan/don't upgrade.

BT Mobile caps its plans to 30Mbps (you can get 60Mbps if you pay £4 more per month) so I guess BT might be trying to make them a bit more equal?

I wouldn't agree with your "but it's 3G speeds" bit. It's fairly easy to get less than 20Mbps even on an upgraded mast, if there's any more than a handful of active users

But after 12 months it goes back up to £35 per month, which is not cost effective at all, so you're better off discussing with the EE team what deals they can offer for you to stick with them

Is it true that the 16GB SIMO tariff goes up to £35 a month? When I bought mine I saw no indication that it would, although it is on my bill discounted as a "loyalty bonus"

Definitely not paying full price.

Apparently yes after 12 months.
