Reading their T&C's it makes out you can't leave your contract with penalty for price increases. I'm probably wrong though.

So, as an existing customer on a 4G Extra £49 Tariff with 20gb of data, Zone A roaming calls/text and EU calls/text they want £60 for 25GB or £65 for 40GB! Total rip off!

That's a lot of money! What phone is that for?

Now compare the prices of the iPhone 6s 64gb with 20GB of data with o2 and Vodafone.

I thought it was a rip off too but o2 and vodafone are charging similar prices (more in VF's case)

All the networks are on their way to becoming a cartel. The prices just keep going up and up.

I've actually just been doing exactly that before I saw your post and you are correct. What's even more interesting is that I used the Wayback Machine to see how prices have changed over the years as I feared mobiles were getting more expensive. In actual fact, a 64GB iPhone 5 would have cost you £99.99 upfront and £76 a month for 20GB of data on EE back in 2013. Now you can get the latest phone with double the capacity and 40GB of data for £65.99 a month and £19.99 up front, and that's for an iPhone 6S Plus on a 4GEE Max Plan. It's still a lot of money, but no worse than it was a few years ago and no worse than other operators charge.

I'm mid-contract with an iPhone 6s Plus 64gb that I paid £179 for and £49pm 10gb (boosted to 20gb with bb) originally. I simply asked for a tariff change.

The way to go is phone at full price and sim only.

Does any other network offer wifi calling that's as integrated and easy to use as EE?

Vodafone hasn't even got support for Wi-Fi calling on Nexus phones yet. Very disappointing.

EE is definitely ahead here, and hopefully will be ahead for VoLTE when it is properly launched (even though it's already launched nationwide, just without any fanfare).

Your 6s Plus will do WiFi calling on Vodafone, but only calls. Text messages don't work. only EE has this done properly. (and EE supports the iPhone 5c/5s/6/6+/6s/6s+ but vodafone only supports the 6s/6s+).

Android handsets have less support; hopefully getting better slowly.

I think the "get out" clause applied to customers who regular used Out of Allowance items when the price increased above RPI.

I'm on a 4G extra plan with double speed data, how fast is this? I'd like the fastest available.

EE Extra plans will give you the fastest speeds available.

Any thoughts when we'll get the 4GEE Max as SIM only options? That would be an appealing option...

Correct. But you forgot the iPhone SE for both MNOs

I agree that it would be appealing to have Max options as SIM Only plans and I believe that inevitable they will release them.
However, I dislike two features of those plans:
1) There is a Fair Usage Policy of 15GB when roaming within the EU in both high end plans (25GB and 40GB). If they really wanted to introduce a FUP they should at least give more to the highest plan (40GB).
2) They are forcing you on BT Sport. The added cost in within the price and in my opinion they should have given the option to opt out for a discount or give more choice like Vodafone. [Netflix/Now TV, Spotify (not Deezer or other music services! ), etc]

Well, what a result. I'm mid contract term and needed more data. My plan is a legacy 4G Extra 10GB (boosted to 20GB with BB) plan which allows free Zone A roaming (calls/messages). However, EE has just switched me to the new 40GB Max tariff for a total of £29.50pm. This is after all my current discounts, additional discounts applied today and inc VAT - I'm very happy with this, they confirmed that the discounts are for the life of my contract, which I've built up over the years.

Totally agree with this - I resent being forced to subsidise BT's reckless spending on sports rights.

I'd much prefer to be able to opt out for a discount, or choose something I would benefit from like Spotify.

Good luck when the BT Sport freebie runs out. If it's anything like leaving BT Broadband, you'll be getting plenty of letters and emails telling you that you'll still have to pay for it even when you have cancelled Sport and called for the 100th time. Then the debt collectors letters will start. It's like a machine. I await with interest. It's like a slow motion car crash as EE customers enter the BT mincer.

I am probably not going to sign up for my free six month trial for that reason.

But on the Max plans, it's for the life you stay on that contract. However I can imagine the TV sub being managed independently by BT so when you end your contract and leave, I bet you'll still have BT Sport and risk having to spend time getting it turned off.

I hope I'm wrong and it's done like Vodafone do the free stuff - you get a code and it expires automatically.

I signed up for the 6 months trial, but not really used it since it can only be used on your phone / tablet which isn't much use to me

I would start the cancellation process now then. 6 months is about how long it will take in my experience.

Sounds like you just need to text 'stop sport' to 150 but we'll see if that works...

I imagine you will have to cancel it independently which may be a problem going by my current experiences. It's a shame.

Out of interest, can you record stuff on the BT Sport app and watch later or is it live only?

It's live only, you can't cast it to a chromecast / any other network device either which is why it's not much use to me.

Not record but assuming it's the same as the regular BT Sport app you get as a BT customer, a lot of it is available later through catch up or the individual sport sections.

Must just be for EE then as the app does allow Chromecast for BT customers.
