There are no gorillas in CBB , yet , so that's a moot point .

Human behaviour is to get along as best you can because otherwise you get in trouble . Simple as that .
Being social and working as a group is a big factor in our species getting as far as it has. If an individual can't be an active and cohesive member of the group they are 'ostrich eyes' (I actually heard an HM say that once lol)

Arg. Read the thread before jumping on someone..

Astute and I were talking about INSTINCT versus SOCIAL CONVENTION. Worrying about getting in to trouble is a social convention. You only get in to trouble when you break social rules.

Edit:

Also, it wasn't moot. It was apt. Gorilla and humans are very close in terms of INSTINCTUAL behaviour. Hence the analogy.

Yes. But you asked me:

It's not instinct if they're thinking about their image. Instinct implies they did something without thinking about it.

This is why I said I don't know enough about psychology and anthropology to correctly answer the question you asked.
Yes the instinct is that of SURVIVAL
And in a group situation, I would think the first thing to ensure survival is to get along with other group members

Then in another comment someone suggested it was not always about compliance and there would be a fight to which I commented suggesting that in this scenario - their survival is based on protection of their image so the fighting urge would need to be suppressed to maintain survival

That's an interesting take. I hadn't considered that thought train. That's one of the reasons why I didn't want to get in to a discussion about instinct though. I just don't know enough about how that ties in to social norms.

Oh and Katie crying over Amy xWinehouse... wtf was that about?!? Nutters, the lot of them.
When Katie was getting awful press re x-factor, Amy Winehouse took her to her local for a drink a few times and told her to ignore the haters. Katie obviously has a soft spot for Amy. To hear Chloe say "I don't look like a crack head" when someone said she looked like Amy Winehouse just upset her. There's nothing nutty about it. Amy was more than a crackhead to Katie.

I think the topic is both convoluted and simple at the same time .
Simple in that like said up thread - in order to survive and have a society that works we get along with others and respect certain social rules and conventions .
You don't have to like everyone but you find a way of working with it , past it or without it.
And every action has a reaction and that's what we are seeing now .

Even if you can only read the first couple of bits, this is what I'm talking about... True manipulative/narcissistic/sociopathic bullies/abusers very often end up with the victim apologising, it's how skilled they are!! That's why I call it Emotional Terrorism, it's a form of torture & brainwashing, it really is. To experience it, you know it. Trust me, I know.

Hi Pinglet. I am just talking generally here and not about Bear - I know exactly what you are talking about , without saying too much. it sounds really over-the-top when you describe it to a person who has not experienced it, or may not know much about it, especially when the person in question has a wonderful public face. Sorry you went through that xxx

I have read the thread , nor am I "jumping"
It's an open forum , not a private conversation between two FMs .
The point is still moot since we are on CBB threads , not Zoology .

The humans in BB are conforming to social norms to survive and Bore is using that basic behavioural norm as an insult because he thinks it makes him look brave and coo-ool to be anti to the social norms , simple as that .

I still don't think you understand. If you did you would understand why it wasn't moot.

But whatever, I'm not going to bicker about it.

i think bear is the type of person that if you where on a night out with him and you ended up being stabbed and asked him to call for an ambulance,he would call for a pizza delivery instead, while your lying there bleeding to death he would just look at you shrugging his shoulders while eating a pizza slice.
