Watching that repellent little creep deface the album nearly tipped me over the edge.

I could not believe that any grown person would be so spiteful as to destroy something that gave the hm's such simple pleasure.

Pleasure that has been in short supply because of his appalling behavior.

It was an act of pure unaduterated spite and hatred.

I loathe him and his tormenting and goading, but this was downright nasty, chilling and very creepy.

I think he is even boring himself now, he didn't seem to derive much pleasure from it, just went through the motions, it was desperate stuff

Did he get a warning?

Not that I'm aware of. Seems he can do what he wants, aided and abetted by BB.

It's mind boggling...

There is indeed something quite menacing and evil underlying his actions and his sense of "Bant-AHHHH"

In his quest to win at all costs - he knows he can't physically destroy HMs / their belongings so he goes to the next best thing... and is not honest enough to confront them to their faces .

There is also something very calculated about his choice this time:

He can't be reproved for this: He is not technically destroying their property or BB property but it was something they all seemed to enjoy for one of those rare moments of bonding.
And he did what he could to destroy or deface it.

The "man" has serious issues and hides behind them in the name of some twisted "it's only a game" humour.

It was difficult to imagine him stooping much lower, until he did.

He's a complete **** up - I don't even give a monkeys if he wins now.

I'm past caring.

Defacing the school book is of zero meaning. The book means nothing. It would most likely end up in a skip after the show. It's a prop. it's a pointless momentary task.

Bear's talent is that he recognises that almost all of the house experience is of no importance at all.

They all seemed to enjoy it - and most seem upset . It represented some of the little fun they have been able to have there

Bear may feel that the house experience is just a means to an end , and acts accordingly - Win at ALL costs

I can't say I have seen him deriving pleasure from a single sodding thing so far. There is never that sparkle of mischief, barely concealed mirth or silly giggling accompanying his antics. His "wind ups" are all conducted joylessly and mechanically and seem to be motivated by nothing more than creating misery in others. He doesn't even seem to get enjoy from that that much either.

Even his 'hots' for Chloe seemed to be weirdly cold. He petted her with a sort of clinical detachment as if she were no more than a commodity being evaluated.

I am actually beginning see him as a piteous creature. It's as if he has nothing inside, no emotion, no empathy, no joy, no nothing. It must be dreadful to be so utterly empty of what makes us human.

I so agree so spiteful

And then he reverts to the weird toddler voice stuff when challenged ' I wanted to have my opinion' pretending he thinks it was reasonable behavior.....not sure what is up with him

I think you have hit the nail on the head here, although I wouldn't see it as a talent. He seems to be an emotional desert who takes no pleasure and places no value on anything, not things, nor friends, nor life experiences - nada. What an horrifically empty existence.

I've just posted something along those lines... (Feel free to take a look if you like lol)
He IS calculated, he's clever & knows EXACTLY what's he's doing.
He's an Emotional Vampire & he's using Emotional Terrorism as his weapon - their reaction to feed on... Eroding people's souls/energy/happiness with his constant dripping tap of mind games. Twisted man.

Opportunities for Bear's mischief are quite few and far between without vandalising the fixtures and fittings or other HMs' stuff - which I believe he has steered fairly clear of so far. So food is an obvious one - a grey area because the food is communal. The yearbook was an opportunity which Bear was not going to let pass by.

His reasoning was sound - he was just adding his opinion to another 2 HMs' opinion.

I agree. It's not as if they all get a personal copy at the end of the experience. I've said it before he's the smartest one in there

I'm very surprised that you think we are seeing anything of the real Stephen Bear. In my view he is playing a role and we know very little of his real character other than this is something that he is prepared to do to earn a crust.

So then why did he do it this way - why not talk to them like a reasonable human being ?

It had nothing to do with adding his opinion - it was just an excuse to provoke them as this was an ( albeit infantile ) task which unexpectedly had them enjoying .

I don't understand this Bear character at all

I have only seen him, 'being himself' twice !!

The first time, in the diary room, where he looked terrified, after being ordered to sit down by the Security guard

The second time, when he had had coffee poured over him by James & retaliated - he had a look of fury & spite on his face. He, also showed spite, last night, during the Yearbook incident.

Who is he ? What is he really like, I wonder ?

I agree. The book seems to have elevated in importance in the other HMs' minds because that's what happens in there - everything seems more important than it really is.

For him, this was obvious and an opportunity not to be missed.

Well if that is the case he deserves an Oscar for an acting performance worthy of Jack Nicholson or Anthony Hopkins.

I hope he goes soon, its all unbearable at the mo, Perez was loud and taunting but he had likable qualities, this current child has none.
