I wouldn't go that far, but he is certainly no dunce!

Yes the show is a means to an end for him - but he seems pretty hollow beyond what we have seen. I pity anyone who wants to know more of the "real Bear" - Most of us have seen enough . Someone who can do the things he has done in the house, and push people to their limits, goads, uses and torments them.
And, as for outside the house, he dumped his gf without even a backward glance -to coin his favourite word " ruthless" or as he pronounces it "roofless".....Let's see what Chloe says after he has outlived his use for her .

Well I both think we know the answer to that, don't we? If you think Bear is going to start behaving like a reasonable human being anytime soon, then you haven't been paying attention!

You're right, two tiny flashes of the real person, that's all we've had in the best part of 3 weeks.

If he does start acting reasonably - send him off for a scan - stat.

good grief .

don't you think you're getting a bit carried away here ?

Well I suppose that's one end of the scale - the other is that he is being 100% himself and this is how he conducts himself in his day to day life all the time, throwing soup, breaking eggs etc to cause maximum disruption to everyone he comes into contact with.

Now I know you can't believe that to be true.

The answer is somewhere in the middle.

We are obviously getting a HM who is playing a role to do well / gain attention in a game show. It's not that hard a task for him because he has done it before.

I was giving him lots of leeway so far but that episode made no sense whatsoever . His stupid, idiotic actions now are going to isolate him from everyone in there . More and more he's looking like a pathetic, selfish creature who seems unable to empathise with anyone .

I bet he's lost a lot of support after last nights HLs and his place in the house is no longer guaranteed ..

Don't think bear got much attention when he was a baby. I think its warped his mind. Thats why he has become such a spiteful person! His mother should hang her head in shame. That kid wasn't brought up he was dragged up.

While I agree that the book had no intrinsic value and would indeed probably be either chucked in a skip or, maybe given as a BB comp prize but it was a nice moment for the HMs. They had "played nicely" together, managed to get on without major nastiness and the book was a symbol of that. So what does he do? Defaces and destroys it! It is like a small nasty boy pulling the wings off butterflies because someone has said how beautiful they are. He is so calculating - now what did these people like so I can destroy it & deprive them of it? Already done the coffee, so we will move on to the book. He is devoid of empathy, he is genuinely in need of medical intervention, he is a thoroughly unpleasant person.

You have it spot on. Damaged and spiteful.

He really stooped to a new low doing that. It was such an innocent day and the delight the hm's took in something as simple as a year book.....

For me his actions were very telling. Hateful & bitter beyond belief

Agree, it was a symbol of the one decent day they had in there.

Shame he couldn't help himself.

Bear's talent is that he recognises that almost all of the house experience is of no importance at all.”

Except in the moment of time a book was made or produced, which can't be replaced as he destroyed it. He also destroyed any pleasure the other HMs had in making of that book. He lacks real talent, as destruction anyone can do. If he prefers destruction then he's on the wrong show.

We should know by now, Bear's is the only opinion that matters.

I see him as an actor playing a role now, the behaviour comes from a genuine place, make no mistake, that's who he is but he's ramped it up for BB

It's one thing to do that kind of thing because that's how you genuinely feel (behaviour that would benefit from actual therapy) but to maliciously do it for effect is something else.

Shame on him and the show.

Exactly . And if you can still bear to watch : any time anyone else is getting attention - he has to get his oar in - even on the last live eviction and any other occasion prior and post this...
He cannot cope unless it's all focussed on him ( negative or positive ) - but mainly acting like a manipulative, egocentric, egomaniac ManChild - childish and odd behaviour for a 26 yr old

Great line . I wished someone in there like Whale would say it to him . Might bring him to his senses but maybe not .

I've thought about this, that would be the trigger for him to get violent and get himself thrown out. I'd like to see Colin push that button but he lacks the intelligence unfortunately. (I say Colin because no harm would come to anyone, he'd just bat Boar away like a fly)

BIB ...Exactly !!!!!!!!!!

As for all this he destroyed the book by people ...get a bloody grip it was a bit of bloody Jam ,that they could easily have wiped off if they were that bothered ..

Really...

It was his intention to deface and damage a part of a day that the houseemates enjoyed.

What part of that escapes you.Genuine question. It bothered him enough to act spitefully and destroy it.

As has been said several times up-thread - it was his motivation to destroy what the book symbolised that bothered them.
