I assumed he was Turkish or something, not that it matters.
Ditto. Especially after seeing him in an Arsenal shirt. The OP (who is Spanish) said straight away he's probably of Cypriot origin, more likely the Northern bit

I'd agree that to a certain extent ethnic HM's have often been unfairly bullied or singled out and stereotyped, but no more than certain other minority groups - not that that makes it acceptable.

Sadly BB seem to choose HM's that are more likely to have certain personality characteristics that they use to reinforce an already stereotypical viewpoint, or at times only air behaviour that 'fits' with that stereotypical view. This only serves to breed more labelling and nurturing of existing ignorant and biased opinions.

Black people are labelled as confrontational and aggressive. 'Upper class' and highly educated people as rich, aloof and prone to looking down their nose at others. Gay men as shrieking bouncing bitches. 'Working class' people as uneducated, booze swilling 'chavs' etc etc.

BB does their level best to pigeonhole HM's and treat the viewers as children. Hang a stethoscope around the Doctor's neck or we wont realise he/she is a Doctor.
We then see what we expect to see and sometimes what we want to see, regardless of how wrong or illogical this may be. Then when the minority group react to be being unfairly labelled or singled out 'we' are then able to say "I told you so".

People that are unfairly labelled or single out will at times react to it.
A black person, who has possibly been on the receiving end of racism all of their life will at times no doubt naturally react to this by becoming angry and frustrated. We can then label their response as 'aggressive'. The same reaction from a gay man we can label as 'shrieking', and from a working class person as 'chavy' A highly educated person is more likely to realise the stupidity behind such thinking and choose to walk away - 'sneering'.

At best it is "just a game show" but at worst it is a dangerous game of conditioning that provokes disharmony.

We all saw what happened with Shilpa. Then we had the episode last year when that evil witch Helen was consistently getting at Brian and now we have this thug Lewis who was acting extremely hostile towards Heavy D and even threw a drink over him. Of course Heavy D was the one punished by the "great" british public but why does this pattern of ethnic housemates being abused continue to rear it's head? Even Natalie was threatened by Jane but apparently people want to sweep these latest incidents under the carpet.
Heavy D was evicted because he is a nob, ethnicity has nothing to do with it.

No,

Heavy D was punished because he was/is an utter arse of a man, the sort of man who can't see the point where the irritation of their presence becomes an annoyance and they don't stop but step it up to drive that annoyance through irritation straight to anger.

Natalie was threatened by Jane because Natalie was a despicable person who goaded that reaction out of Jane just so she had an excuse to play the victim.

Helen "got at" everyone, not just Brian.

I didn't even realise Heavy D was mixed race, i don't tend to take much notice of what shade people are, i judge people more on their behaviour.

Bear is a prat, does that make me racist against white/orange people?

Whenever there is a anti racist post where there is no racism.

You can be sure it is you that starts it.

I am beginning to think it is you that has racist views.

I mean the way Jackson was treated and Natalie was called OMFG SO VIOLENT AND AGGRESSIVE but Hughie and Jasons outburst was like brushed away and now Lewis/Bear/Marnie being excused for actual aggression/intimidation makes me side-eye everyone and everything.

But this thread is bullshit because Heavy D wasn't no victim. He was a moron who joined 'Squad' first and had no qualms about pissing everyone else off then kept flip flopping like the whale that he is.
That hadn't occurred to me about Jackson! I did realise he was of mixed race but I don't even think about things like that I just see the person!.There was an awful lot of hate on here for him that I didn't understand as he clearly had a big fan base but a lot of us had to leave this main forum .
He wasn't remotely nasty and yet the hate was out of proportion to a couple on CBB whose behaviour leaves a lot to be desired.
Very difficult sometimes to realise prejudice does exist because it truly never occurs to me!

The point is if an ethnic housemate would have thrown drink over someone aggressively like Lewis did, or if an ethnic housemate would have gotten in someones face and made threats I'm sure there would have been a big issue made!!..but Lewis and Jane get off scott free...I wonder why?
I didn't even know Heavy D was 'ethnic'

This is a load of rubbish. How is someone with one mixed raced parent ethnic? They're more white than black.

A true racist would not be able to live with someone they detested. This racism argument is ridiculous

Playing the race card is a low move. I remember an episode of QI where some comedian did it constantly, very awkward.

I had no idea Colin was 'ethnic' I was just viewing him as a person in his own right, maybe it's racist not being racist? I don't know anymore, it's too confusing.

Natalie was a nasty bitter vile woman. Nothing to do with any ethnicity if people didn't like her. She was just downright horrible

Reginald D hunter I think, he brought race up on most of his appearances. 'Because I'm black' and mentions of 'the white man', 'profiting off natives'. Stuff like that, awkward all round. Not a big deal though.

Quite likely was Reginald D. I saw hie live show and that was the main thrust of the whole set, along with copious use (I mean at least every other sentence) of the "c" word.
