Looks a very good mobile with great reviews.
Thinking trading in my Samsung s6 very poor battery performance. |

I sold my S6 and bought an X play last year, It's not bad, you should notice a significant improvement in battery over an S6, the cameras not as good as the S6 but it's still good. It's not as fast as the S6 and lags a bit when doing stuff like browsing photos in the Gallery or browsing heavy Web pages, screens good though, LCD but it's very bright, although colours aren't as saturated as the S6. Good all round phone.

I have the X Play 16gb and the G4Plus 32gb and the performance is pretty close in almost every way but for me the X Play is occasionally a little more responsive on some apps, has a compass and NFC and slightly smaller by a few mm's, the loudspeaker and earpiece sound better on the X Play (especially the earpiece for phone calls, is better on the X Play)
Both mine are dual sim versions and the only reason I now use the G4 Plus is that both SIMs are 3G capable at the same time which the X Play (dual sim model) is 3G/2G at the same time. The X Play also runs cooler, the G4Plus gets hot when using the camera or some apps. Battery life on both is good, I usually get 30-40% after a working day of emails, some phone calls, browsing etc. My X Play recently was left in airplane mode and lasted about 12 days |

I just transferred everything from the S6 to a memory card and put the card in the Moto, as for apps I think Google stores a list of all the apps you have downloaded, so just reinstall them from the Play store. I think Google syncs pretty much everything so setting up a new device should be fairly easy.

Not doing brightness high? |

Not doing brightness high? However, I have had 3 days of actual use out of my Moto X Play when I only used it very lightly, eg not much phone calls or web browsing/emailing etc. But normal medium usage will always give me a decent 18 hours with still some 20-40% remaining. |

The phone sat on my desk, no sim cards fitted but wifi was on. The screen dims down after a minute. I just left the phone powered on, sitting there doing very little except play store auto updates enabled but nothing much else was being used. I just did it to see how long it would last while I started to use the G4Plus that I had to replace the X Play. It's not at all 'real world' of course.

16GB or 32GB? I have the 16GB Moto X Play and find it performs equally to the Moto G4Plus 32G and might be slightly more responsive on some apps and doesn't get hot like the G4Plus seems to! X Play also has compass and NFC, the compass is sorely missed on my G4Plus when walking around a strange town trying to use satnav. Just bear in mind it's a year old now so may not get many more updates. |

I bought the 32gb Moto X Play a week ago and love it.
Very responsive while flicking through internet, nice all round feel to it and not full off clutter like Samsung, great screen and fantastic battery life Only thing I miss is a notification light. |

I've had the Moto X Play for about a year and I'm still happy with it. It might be missing a couple of bells and whistles from the top of the range phones (twin speakers, gyroscope) but it's a decent mid-market choice especially if you like an almost pure Android UI. I only got the 16GB version but added a 32GB SD card.
The battery was excellent to start with but has now degraded to just about OK so I have started to take a charger pack out with me if I know I'm going to be having a mobile-intensive day. Still no reason to change it though so it should be good for at least another 9-12 months. |

I have had a Moto X Play 11 months and its been great, battery life is just fantastic, i quite often go to put it on charge at night and then don't bother because it is at 75% still.
I've got a 16GB one with a 64GB card being used as adopted storage. |

Moto X Play
I've had mine about 4 months now. Got it direct from the Moto Maker website, so virtually stock Android. It's the 32gb version, to which I've added a 32gb micro sd card.
I was able to choose: front colour (Black, could have been white). Camera trim (electric Blue) Back cover (Blue) Boot up greeting (you sexy beast!) My name engraved on back cover. No charge for customising. Sim-free. Postage free. Arrived in eight days. £249. I love: the screen , great colour and brightness. Battery life excellent (though I still charge every day, I never run out before time.): Turbo charger (cost extra, gets me to 65% from under 15% in 15 minutes) Sound quality from speaker on media playback: sound quality on calls. Speed of app switching and launching is great: Camera is very good, not the best ever, but more than good enough for me, decent low light performance. I love the build quality. Don't like: the Facebook app. So slow and laggy it's unusable, easier to use the mobile site in the browser. Is this specific to the phone, or is the Android app bad? The IOS version on my iPad is fine. All in all, for its price, I think it's terrific. |
