Youview vs BT Vision
Hi Everyone,
I currently have a BT Vision box (black) and have been offered a free BT YouiView+ box for £1.50 per month extra. I've not been particularly impressed with the BT Vision box since the major update a couple of years ago - I find it occasionally freezes and sometimes just resets itself when I'm watching a recording. However, due to geographical issues, it's been the only real way for me to get Sky Sports, so I've stuck with it. Does anyone have any experience of both the BT Vision and YouView+ boxes, and have any insight about what moving to YouView+ was like? Also, is Sky Sports 5 currently available with the YouView boxes? When I last re-contracted (after taking Fibre last year) I was put off from switching to YouView as it didn't have SS5. Thanks in advance. Bob |

Unfortunately Sky Sports 5 isn't on BT YouView, it being added to the line-up would be a major factor in me subscribing as its currently the SS channel that broadcasts most of the WWE content and also, I believe, some Spanish football.
I've never owned or operated a BT Vision box so cannot compare it with YV, but I've used YV for over two years now (upgrading to the UHD box last month) and have been extremely happy with the hardware and service. The main downside is the lack of a full Sky Sports package, though this is really out of BT's hands, I think they'd offer it if Sky would allow full wholesale. BT YV does offer SS 1 and 2 in HD though, and their own sports channels I am a big fan of. |

Thanks Jimmy - that's a shame, SS5 could be a deal breaker for me.
Shame. |

I don't know why Sky Sports 5 has still not been added to BT Youview. As its only a matter of time before BT will decide to close the old Vision service altogether.
I never tane the Sky Sports package with BT Youview. Never had BT Vision but have found Youview to be a fine service. Darren |

Sky for some time maintained that Youview is a different platform not covered by their original agreement to sell BT Sky Sports on BT Vision.
SS1&2 SD only came to Youview after an OFCOM ruling forced Sky's hand. SS5 only came to BT vision presumably under the original agreement. It is not covered by the OFCOM ruling. I had thought Sky might have been softening its position against BT when it allowed SS1&2 HD onto BT Youview, but I guess it suits their purposes to disrupt the BT offering by only allowing SS5 on the old platform, making Youview appear a poorer option. |
