I don't like it either OP. Not all sexism is hostile or misogynist. There is such thing as benevolent sexism (favouring women due to their gender and portraying them as weak). I am full equality between the genders

It's not just Renee but also most of the BOTS panel. I don't agree with the idea that a woman needs a man to defend her in an argument. I'm not a fan of Katie and didn't agree with all that she said but I did think she was able to defend herself and didn't need to be rescued by anyone (not even a man).

I can't stand Lewis but I think he realized he meant "people, meaning men and women" when he initially said "man" or "men". He tried to correct himself but screwed it up. I think he was trying to sound equalist (or whatever the term is for equality between the sexes) and screwed it up. I like that he realized his initial error and I wish he could have gotten it correct throughout his message (I liked the message even though I don't care for Lewis).

The word used by Martin Luther King is "man". Lewis was quoting him so also used the word "man", but decided to edit the quotation. Still funny hearing a man (person/woman) of violence quoting a man of peace though.

He was trying to be PC and bungled it. I have to say, despite not caring for Lewis, he is more well read (I guess) than many of the others. However I still want him out (and still want Bear to win )

yes, throwing a drink in someone's face is violent as was his posturing up to Boom. This is different from throwing a cup at a glass. Lewis was violent toward a person. Bear was violent with an inanimate object (releasing his anger in a more acceptable manner, not ideal but better than at a person)

I think you may be right. In a conversation with Frankie and Renee she asked where are the men in the house. One she realised what she had said she quickly then said oh we have Frankie but it was quite clear she doesn't class Frankie as a 'man'.

While i'm sure It's origin was homophobic, it's general usage isn't today. At least, not in the US. Any more than calling someone as Bastard is indicative of a hatred of women or mothers.
