I can't stand Lewis but I think he realized he meant "people, meaning men and women" when he initially said "man" or "men". He tried to correct himself but screwed it up. I think he was trying to sound equalist (or whatever the term is for equality between the sexes) and screwed it up. I like that he realized his initial error and I wish he could have gotten it correct throughout his message (I liked the message even though I don't care for Lewis).”

The word used by Martin Luther King is "man". Lewis was quoting him so also used the word "man", but decided to edit the quotation. Still funny hearing a man (person/woman) of violence quoting a man of peace though.
