It must have been a really horrible/sickening shock for both Katie and her poor mother - it's a good few years ago now though. No less sickening for them to think about but the shock will have abated. It's pretty common knowledge - I'm not at all surprised that it has come up in conversation.

I think it was more about how she said it and what she said. It was very crude and distasteful about her nan! I really don't think Katie is particularly pleasant myself! Saying her nan was more famous than Heavy and following it up with such a crude remark

I think that was said in the heat of the moment, she was furious at Heavy D (rightly so, imo) and everyone says things in the heat of the moment & really, when it comes down to it, she's right, her gran is more famous.

As for her talking calmly about it to the others, I had no problem with that either. Her gran is a prostitute & she's clearly not shy about at admitting it so why shouldn't she discuss it.

Never having heard of her until this show, I decided to look her up. She can't sing, that's the first thing I saw. She really can't. So, what will she be famous for? The X-factor, apparently, want people who have a 'certain something', it helps to be able to sing, but that's not the be all and end all. I believe it's something called 'charisma' and two out of the three judges believed she had it. It didn't last long though, because she was a diva. Anyway, she came 8th or 9th. You'd think that would be the end of her wouldn't you? But no, Katie is a demanding, spoilt, deluded, talentless diva and she wants (as she so succintly stated on her first appearance of X-factor) to be FAMOUS worldwide. Nothing, by the way, is her fault. EVER. The judges are wrong. Other people are wrong. But that's why she's on this show - she wants WORLDWIDE fame. Has she got it? I didn't particularly like Heavy D but he was right about her.

It seems to me that, having failed abysmally at any kind of talent of her own, Katie now depends and alludes to her granny to give her any semblance of 'fame'. Katie is after WORLDWIDE FAME. How she gets it doesn't really matter. Why she is on this show is a complete mystery to me. She, like Sam Fox, isn't current.
