It could be that JP isn't completely blind if he has good news for Myra and Sally before the James stuff with the operation. I wonder if its starting to come back and he's able to see some things or its blurry but the operation would fix it.

I think James's problem is probably to do with Marnie as she is the one he has a bigger problem with tbh. It'll be interesting to see what it is and if this leads to McNight getting together or will it just serve to delay again.

That would make sense. He has to be able to get to the place on his own as otherwise another person would hear this conversation. Whatever he hears will make him understand James but I don't think he will forgive him yet. He is an intelligent man who should know right from wrong.

Ugh, it really looks like Mac was violent towards James in the past!! Boring and unnecessary. Marnie's influence was enough to explain why James is the way he is, imo!!

I'd prefer it to serve as a delay tbh as i think keeping thier romance as a slow burn is far more interesting and progressive for James's character.



It does seem that way, which is a real shame. Yeah growing up with a violent dad does have a story telling point and it's not completely disinteresting. It just doesn't excite me ( if that's the right word) as Marnies psychological hold. For me, that story has much bigger potential. I hope the show doesn't abandon that completely. I should hope there are more skeletons to come especially since James has spent all those years away and with his toxic mum no less.

I think it's probably a bit of both. We've already seen Marnie manipulate him and James call her out on how she influenced his childhood so I imagine that is still in play. Mac's violent side (assuming he was violent towards James) would have made him even more vulnerable to whatever games Marnie has been playing with him.

It does say JP ''witnessed' it. We will have to see what that means as regards his sight. It is looking like I might be right that Mac isn't James' dad.

All the spoilers seem to suggest that there is another twist in Mac and Nita's wedding. Either Nita herself calls it of or maybe James does something? Wasn't there a spoiler saying that James gets revenge or something like that. Maybe he reveals something at the wedding ....?

I just didn't want James's background to include physical abuse from daddy, it's been done to death, and if this is then "shocking truth" about his past, it's totally underwhelming.

I hadn't realised Craig came back for the Hollyoaks Later eps in Scotland with Niall's final exit. I was really pleasantly surprised to see him! Hollyoaks back then was so bang on.

What continued to annoy me was the ' I'm not gay' mantra continued. I haven't seen that Later in years but remember a scene with Steph at the table when JP was mentioned I think he said JP was the only man he had kissed and she replied he did more than that.

I read that mantra was Guy's input. After he left he did a stint on a reality show where he had to kiss models. I hear his next part is playing a college lothario on The Affair. It doesn't surprise me at all. In a backstage video James teases Guy by saying ' kiss me Guy'. You can tell he was very uncomfortable. The fact Craig was with a girl before coming back for the Sunset ending and ended up with a girl when they split up finally is no surprise. I don't think we will ever see Guy play a bi/gay character again.

I was never bothered by the whole "I'm not gay" thing with Craig because, well, he wasn't. It was like the show couldn't properly acknowledge the concept of bisexuality with that character and it was maddening! I think Kris and Ravi are Hollyoaks only stated bisexual male characters and they arsed that up completely (tho there might be others I'm forgetting).

Anyway, I think I saw James is in POV week a bit so that's good.

The point of McDean was to tell a love story that defied labels and sexual categories. "It's not about being gay, it's about who you fall in love with". Craig was never meant to come out as gay, or even as bi (although he could possibly be, a 1-2 on the Kinsey scale). It was meant to be the story of a straight guy coming to terms with the very confusing thing of falling in love with his male best friend.

The fact that after all these years so many people are still fixated on the "not gay" thing never fails me to irritate me, cos they missed the point of the whole, beautiful story.
